Kristine Peter Adventure Nutritionist

Kristine Peter Adventure Nutritionist I teach people how to eat to achieve their health and fitness goals. Booking & Services on website My area of specialization is mental health nutrition.

My name is Kris (short for Kristine) and I'm a Nutritionist (ANutr) and Nutrition Educator (MEd). As a nutritionist, I advise how food impacts health, and I create and implement health interventions designed to improve health and wellbeing through food and nutrition. This involves addressing how food can impact mood, energy, and mental health, how mental health can impact food choices, and how all interventions must support mental health and wellbeing. I work with clients in an individual and group setting, entirely virtually using an online platform and telehealth facilities. The time frame is usually between 3-6 months, although it depends on the person's needs. My approach differs from many in my space because I don't use meal plans, restrictive food lists, or diets to support my clients. I use a habit-based approach to ensure my clients can make food and nutrition changes that work for them do not involve sudden radical change, and are not overwhelming or stressful. The difference is that these small changes compound over time our outsized impact that lasts. Want to know more? Send me a message or hop onto my website www.kristinepeter.com

The NDIA is proposing cuts to the fees changed by key therapeutic services to NDIS participants. They are using an argument that NDIS coverage should be more in line with private health cover rates. But what we all know private health doesn't fully cover these services either - there's a gap payment required in order to access these services. Many NDIS participants will not able to afford that gap, which will result in needing to access these services in the hospital instead. This will only increase the cost to taxpayer and further damage the health care system.

In my opinion, this argument comparing NDIS rates for therapeutic supports to private health coverage in Australia simply highlights the existing issues with private health cover, it does not provide and example to which we should design our national disability coverage.

Please listen to neurological physiotherapist Caren Rogers of Hills Neurological Rehabilitation expert explanation of how these proposed changes will impact some of Australia's most vulnerable people.

What’s that got to do with the price of eggs?

Right now? Everything.

With some cartons hitting $13 in WA, it’s time to rethink how we use eggs—and how to replace them when we can’t (or won’t) pay that price.

Here’s a breakdown of affordable, practical egg swaps based on why you were using them in the first place—whether it’s for baking, protein, or a meal centrepiece.

Swipe through for ideas you can actually use from your local Coles, Woolies, or pantry shelf.

Eggs aren’t the only way to eat well.

Carbs aren't just fuel, they're part of your body's stress management system.

Before, during, and after your hikes, runs, rides, or other forms of physical activity, carbohydrates play a key role in reducing inflammation, lowering stress hormones, and speeding recovery.

It's not about loading up for no reason, it's about strategic fueling for resilience and performance.

On multi-day adventures or tough training blocks, when you need to get up the next day amd do it all over again, smart carb timing can make the difference between thriving and crashing.

Adventure nutrition is more than just energy — it’s about supporting your body to go further, and feel better doing it.

3 Signs Your Workplace Needs a Nutrition Strategy.
A kombucha fridge or weekly fruit bowl doesn’t cut it.

If your staff skip meals, rely on energy drinks, or treat lunch like an inconvenience, it’s time for a workplace nutrition strategy.

Three signs it’s overdue:

1. Skipped or rushed meals

2. Energy slumps by 2pm

3. No structure, just snacks

Nutrition is part of performance. It's a need, not a want.

Are you trying to batch your mental health?

Two hours a week spent outdoors can improve your mental health. But the catch is—it has to be every week. Not just during the holidays. Not just when you're training for an event. Not just when it fits neatly into your calendar.

If you got outside over Easter, that’s a great first step. The challenge now is to keep the momentum going.

I’ve noticed this all-or-nothing mindset in a lot of high-performing adults. It’s time outside if it’s part of a big goal—a race, a ride, a trek. But the outdoors doesn’t have to be earned by a training plan.

Sometimes, it’s just a walk after work. A sit in the park. A moment to breathe.

It doesn’t need to be perfect. It just needs to happen.

I struggle with holiday/festive silly season posts.

I really do.

On the one hand, I'm a nutritionist, and I know people struggle this time of year. They want to have fun, share joy, and celebrate.

They also don't want to completely abandon their fitness and training goals they've been working on all year.

And some might say, it's just a few days, don't worry about it.

And to those I say - how are things in the Northern Hemisphere?? 🌍 ❄️

Here in Australia🌞 the holidays, or the silly season as we call it, is long. It starts with those early Christmas parties and end of school year functions in November. And goes right on through to Australia Day, which is Jan 26th.

Schools are out for most of December and January, so schedules are disrupted, and busy working parents are trying to make the most of their kids school holidays while also working.

It's a lot.

But the other side of the issue is that this time of year the 'health and wellness' space is about to kick off in its yearly bid to create body dysmorphia and a disordered relationship with food.

Yep, that's those 'post holiday shred', Turkey burn' '12 weeks to a beach body' aggressive marketing designed to target your insecurities and make you feel like if you don't hope on one of these diets now, you will fail to start the year successfully.

It's all nonsense.

But for me, it means anything I saw or do needs to be filtered through this lens.

❓️Will anything I post online actually be helpful?
❓️Will it help to improve health and fitness, or be detrimental?

In truth, I don't know.

But I have put together a guide full of the advice and topics I've been covering with my clients over the past few months in the lead up to the silly season.

If you would like the guide, just comment GUIDE below. I, not a chat bot or other AI tool, will DM it to you.

It’s easy to let fitness slip during the holidays, but consistency is key. Keeping up your training doesn’t have to be perfect. It’s about working movement into your schedule wherever you can.

It's also a time of year when you might need to let go of the perfect fuelling strategy. Staying consistently physically active is the focus, even if you can't find the time to make sure you're optimally fuelled for maximum performance.

This is me, this morning, at my gym. I’ll admit, the gym isn’t my favourite place. I go because I know strength training is essential for staying healthy and being able to do the things I enjoy, like hiking and climbing.

While there is no denying cardiovascular and endurance exercise improves your VO2 max, which is a key marker for health, there is no amount of running that will support bone density like strength and resistance training.

The holidays can make it harder to find time for outdoor activities. That’s when I rely on the gym to keep my fitness ticking over. It’s not always exciting, it can be a bit boring, it gets the job done.

When stress is high and food choices are out of your control, staying active matters even more. Moving your body helps keep you grounded and on track with your health and fitness goals.

Keep movement part of your routine this holiday season. It doesn’t have to be perfect, just consistent. You’ll thank yourself later.

Want more tips for the holiday season? I've got a new guide, Fuel for the Festive Season.

What a fantastic morning talking about nutrition ☀️🥗

It was an opportunity for me to talk to fellow small businesses and business owners about fuelling physical activity - specifically when it's part of your job, or the role of your staff.

An active workforce needs to know how to be adequately fuelled in order to perform at their best:

✨️Proper nutrition is key for physically demanding jobs. It boosts energy, focus, and overallperformance. Poor nutrition can lead to fatigue, reduced productivity, increased injury risk, and impaired decision-making.

✨️Targeted nutrition programs can cut absenteeism by up to 20% by boosting health,
immunity, and stamina. Improved nutrition literacy leads to fewer sick days, higher
productivity, better stress resilience, and stronger employee retention.

✨️The 2024 Workforce Trends Report confirms: better employee wellbeing, including proper nutrition, reduces absenteeism and increases productivity and retention.

✨️Balanced nutrition maintains stamina, supports recovery, and sharpens mental clarity, all crucial for active roles. Properly fueled employees enhance performance, reduce absenteeism, and contribute to a safer, more productive workplace.

It was an honour and a privilege to be nominated for an Outdoor Industry Award in the category of Outdoor Education for Food on the Trail: Nutrition for Multi Day Hiking.

In many ways, it feels like my career has come a full circle re-entering the outdoors industry. I've come back with a new set of knowledge and skills to complement the years of experience working in the outdoors sector has given me.

Many people have supported me on this journey, and I would not have been here at this event without the support of .com.au and the amazing team at , for all taking a chance on me 💙 Thank you.
