Are you or a loved one considering in-home aged care?

Starting 1 November 2025, the Australian Government is launching the new Support at Home program. This initiative aims to simplify services and offer more personalised support. It introduces eight new funding levels, three distinct support pathways, and a quarterly budget to enhance your care experience at home.

Our RDNS Silverchain care team is here to guide you through these changes and ensure you continue to receive the best care.

In recognition of Pride Month at Silverchain, we are encouraging our communities to reflect on the importance of being a good ally to the LGBTQ+ community. 🏳️‍🌈

In doing this, we recognise that allyship is an important part of how Silverchain can support people still experiencing discrimination. Being an ally is a choice. It is about choosing to be visible and vocal for the rights of others, calling out bias and unacceptable behaviour, and using our voice to effect change.

Each one of us has the power to contribute to a more inclusive world of true equality and dignity for all.

As the third largest Home Care Package provider in Australia, Silverchain welcomes the Federal Government’s decision to delay the implementation of the new Aged Care Act and the Support at Home program until 1 November 2025.

Reforms of this magnitude should not be rushed at the expense of those most impacted - older Australians. The decision to delay these reforms allows more time for the Government to finalise the detail that consumers and the sector are waiting on.

It's important to get these once-in-a-generation reforms right for older people, their carers and families, and the dedicated aged care workers who deliver high quality care.

After Joan lost her husband, grief and anxiety quietly took over. She withdrew, stopped eating and became trapped in obsessive routines.

Though she received home care through Silverchain, mental health wasn’t part of her assessment. Her distress was missed — until a severe panic attack landed her in hospital.

Mental health must be part of aged care. With your support, Silverchain can help identify mental health issues earlier.

Community palliative care client Dennis* was living on a small pension and relying on last-resort life insurance funds to make ends meet after his partner Kate stopped working to care for him and support their teenage son through this difficult time.

When Dennis’ RDNS Silverchain Social Worker discovered the family was in financial distress she immediately applied for a food voucher from Silverchain’s donor-funded Helping Hand program.

With food in the fridge, Dennis could pay for his medication, and the financial pressure on the family was significantly reduced. This was only possible because of generous donor support to Silverchain Foundation.

Thanks to generous donations to our Helping Hand program, many clients like Dennis received grocery and pharmacy vouchers in 2024, easing their cost of living pressures and making a meaningful difference in their lives.
