In the saddest news, Yogahubber, Philip Quenby lost his battle with cancer and passed away last Sunday.
 .
Goodbye Dear Friend.
 .
This is how I will remember you. Strong, but ever gentle. We were working on your handstand and making such great progress.  An unlikely adventure for someone in their seventies. When I corrected your form or tried to teach you a new technique, at first you would close-up, for just a moment, wanting it to be easier. Then a deep softness would come upon your heart, and you’d shift into the deepest listening opening yourself to the information offered.... and on we would go with the practice of yoga and the living of life. Philip, I loved the kind of person you were. I learnt so much from being in the presence of your wisdom, humility and kindness.
 .
You battled so hard and were so brave. We have missed you; we will miss you. I hope your embodiment was all you wished for, and there is a fullness of LOVE awaiting you beyond the veil.
In friendship, Sarcha.

Oooh it’s was chilly this early pre-dawn morning. The Mysore room was quiet. Many of our regulars stayed put under snuggly covers. Many of the teachers that practice with me made it in. Today we had 12 teachers in the room, and only one non-teacher student, plus my dear husband (but he drives me to work). And that’s the thing about Yogahub, it’s full of teachers that practice, people that practice. The roots run deep with us. Here is one of our beautiful dedicated teacher-practitioners keeping cosy waiting the cranked heaters to warm the room this morning. It’s was another beautiful day

Looking for a Level 3 alignment based yoga class. They are hard to come by these days...
Lori’s 8:30am Sunday Best class is a timetable favourite at Yogahub. Lori has been teaching his Sunday Best class with us since the very first day we opened our doors in June 2015. He's a little bit famous around our neck of the woods... Sunday OG!

Have you met Marcus West?
After 9 years of personal practice, Marcus made the leap into teaching. He is passionate about sharing yoga with everyone he can and loves helping people find their own practice. Whilst his training is rooted in Ashtanga, Marcus is a keen explorer of all lineages. He encourages students to practice with compassion for how they present on the day, firmly believing that there is no greater or lesser, only what is right for the individual in the moment. Marcus balances his love of yoga with cycling, windsurfing and stand-up paddling.
Being a curious and keen technician makes Marcus particularly suited to teaching students the foundations of yoga. His approach ensures students are moving safely and get the most out of the practice.
Kind and humorous, Marcus is also passionate about bringing more men to yoga –– to help us be our best selves.

Rounding up the yogis each morning at Mysore practice, Kali brings us together with a gentle but assertive bark for the opening chant, always closing with her very own and special 'awhoo"! We love you Kali! 💛
Sarcha named Kali, after the Goddess
Kali is quite often mistaken as the goddess of death. She is, in fact, the goddess of kala (time) and is thought to end our illusion and free us from cycle of karma by bringing us liberation from our bodies. Her role is profound, as she is responsible for making sure that all things die in order to continue the cycle of life.
Kali's blood dripping tongue symbolises her great victory over the demon Raktabija, who was extra hard to kill because the blood from each wound Kali inflicted spawned a new demon. But quick witted Kali solved the problem by drinking the demons blood so that not a drop could spill. She then swallowed his whole body in one quick bite. What can you say? Some girls have big appetites! ~ Sanjay Patel

With an insatiable love of yoga, dance and creative movement, Fiona is a trailblazer in both the Perth yoga and dance scene. Fiona started teaching yoga in 2017, and completed mentoring with Sarcha Thurston in 2021, joining the Yogahub team also in 2021.
At Yogahub, Fiona’s classes cover a lot of ground: the quiet introverted still of yin, to slow mindful vinyasa and her signature offering; a skilful weaving of of yoga and dynamic dance.
Wanderlust, and a love of human connection source her creativity and inspiration. She believes in the power of movement as a platform for personal transform, and to foster authentic human connection.
