📚 Back to School – And It's Not Always Easy 🎒

As Term 3 kicks off, many families are settling back into routines - but for some children, the return to school can bring big emotions, anxiety, or even school refusal.

School refusal isn't just "not wanting to go" - it's often a sign that something deeper is going on, and it can feel really overwhelming for both kids and parents.

At Ace Psychology, we support children and families in understanding the why behind school refusal and working together to create supportive strategies for getting back on track.

If you're noticing ongoing distress, tummy aches, morning meltdowns, or avoidance behaviours around school - you're not alone, and support is available.

📞 Reach out to chat with our friendly team on 08 6558 5222 to learn more about how we can help.

🔥 NAIDOC Week 2025: The Next Generation – Strength, Vision & Legacy 🔥

This week, we celebrate and honour the voices, leadership, and future of young Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.

The theme “The Next Generation: Strength, Vision & Legacy” recognises the power of First Nations youth - as custodians of Country, culture, and community. It’s about listening deeply, standing alongside, and investing in a future shaped by their wisdom, resilience, and strength.

At Ace Psychology, we acknowledge the Traditional Custodians of the land on which we live and work, the Whadjuk Noongar people, and pay our respects to Elders past and present. We are committed to ongoing learning, cultural respect, and supporting the wellbeing of all First Nations peoples.

Let’s celebrate, elevate and walk beside the next generation - not just this week, but every week. 💛❤️🖤

“If I need therapy, something must be really wrong with me…”

Let’s bust that myth right now. 👇

Therapy isn’t just for crises or when things feel like they’re falling apart. It can also be about:

- Building self-awareness
- Learning new coping strategies
- Improving relationships
- Navigating life transitions
- Growing as a person

Seeking support is a sign of strength, not weakness. You don’t need to hit “rock bottom” to benefit from talking to someone.

Mental health is for everyone, just like physical health. And your wellbeing is worth investing in, at any stage.

💬 Got questions about how therapy works? We’re always happy to chat.

🌱 Psychology Tip of the Day: Small Habits = Big Change

Big goals can feel overwhelming, but the secret? Start small and stack your habits!

By linking tiny, manageable habits together (like stretching after brushing your teeth or journaling with your morning coffee), you’re creating a routine that feels natural - and sticks!

💡 Over time, these little actions build momentum, confidence, and real change. Progress doesn’t have to be loud to be powerful!

What small habit will you build into your day today? 💕

🌈 Spotlight on the Wheel of Emotion! 🌈

At Ace Psychology, we love using the Wheel of Emotion, it’s such a fantastic tool for helping individuals identify and name what they’re feeling. Emotions can sometimes feel confusing or overwhelming, but the Wheel of Emotion breaks them down into clear, relatable words.

By recognising exactly what we’re feeling, it becomes so much easier to understand ourselves and work towards emotional regulation. Whether it’s frustration, joy, sadness, or curiosity, naming our emotions is a powerful first step on the journey to feeling balanced and in control.

If you or someone you know struggles with putting emotions into words, the Wheel of Emotion can be a wonderful guide. And remember, you’re never alone, we’re here to support you every step of the way. 💕

❄️ Winter is Here - How’s Your Wellbeing Holding Up?

As the days get shorter and the weather cools down, it’s totally normal to feel a little more tired, sluggish, or low in mood. Winter has a way of nudging us toward hibernation, but your mental health matters just as much in the quieter seasons.

Here are 7 simple ways to look after your wellbeing this winter:

☀️ Chase the light - Get outside during daylight hours, even a short walk or a moment in the sun can help lift your mood.

🧣 Balance rest with gentle structure - Winter invites us to slow down, but too much unstructured time can leave us feeling flat. Try keeping a simple routine for sleep, meals, and movement.

🍲 Nourish yourself - Comfort food is lovely, but don’t forget your brain thrives on nutrients too. Warm, colourful meals support both body and mind.

💬 Stay connected - It’s easy to withdraw when it’s cold, but connection is vital. Reach out to a friend, plan a catch-up, or simply check in with someone you care about.

🧘 Move your body (gently counts!) - A quick stretch, a slow walk, or dancing in your kitchen, any movement can help lift energy and mood.

📱 Limit the scroll - If your screen time has crept up with the colder weather, try swapping one scroll-session for a book, a bath, or a mindful moment.

😴 Protect your sleep - Aim for regular sleep and wake times, wind down without screens, and keep your room cosy but not too warm.

And most importantly: be kind to yourself. Winter can be a tough season for many. If you're feeling low, anxious or stuck, you’re not alone, and support is available.

Our psychologists are here if you’d like to talk.
📞 Call us on 08 6558 5222 or visit our website to make a booking.

Wrap yourself in warmth, take it slow, and remember - it’s okay to ask for help 💕
