Complete Decongestive Therapy (CDT) is a gold-standard treatment for managing lymphoedema at LK Lymphoedema Centre.

CDT combines various techniques, including compression bandaging, wraps, and garments, to reduce swelling and prevent lymph fluid build-up. Compression pump therapy may also be applied if appropriate. The treatment starts with an intensive phase followed by maintenance to ensure long-term success. Usually takes a minimum of 3 months before any improvement is noticeable.

What is Lymphoedema?

Lymphoedema is swelling caused by issues in the lymphatic system, that is part of the immune and circulatory system. It can be either primary, which is congenital and may develop at any stage of life, or secondary, triggered by trauma, surgery (such as cancer treatment or joint replacements), infections, or obesity.

What is Lipoedema? This Lipoedema Awareness Month, we’re shedding light on a medical condition that often goes unrecognised.

Lipoedema is a condition where fat tissue abnormally accumulates, usually in the legs, thighs, buttocks, and sometimes arms. Hands and feet are spared. Lipoedema may cause pain, tenderness, bruising, and reduced mobility, impacting daily life.
