Homelessness - something that we are all a few bad decisions or a few bad events away from.... it is a fine line between having and not having, and with the current economic state, the line is becoming finer... we can be at risk of homelessness for many reasons...our mental health, the state of our relationships, our financial situation...
Simone and I began the Homeless Food Run on a Tuesday night, after two lovely ladies Jan Mc Cool and Judy aka Truck (who had been doing it for eons, decided to pass it on)... so we took it up. Sims’ 14 year old boy William helps out, and is exposed to the more raw end of people... those effected by drugs, domestic violence, sexual abuse, mental illness...the list goes on.. and he is becoming a better person because of it. We are fortunate to have a number of places donating food and toiletries etc, and are very happy to give TLC, laughter and hugs in abundance. We are also extremely fortunate to have a number of wonderful friends who help us out on a Tuesday night giving out the goodies, as well as collecting and donating food etc. We work closely with schools providing education and opportunities to the students of working with our street friends. We are not associated with any group. We do not do this because we want kudos. We do this as we saw a gap. We do this because it is nothing for us to spend a few hours a week making some Perth folks a little bit happier, and fill their bellies. If you are interested in donating goodies, you can message us here. There are a number of drop off points - Alfred Cove, Applecross and Dianella... however if in a bind we can also arrange a pick up :)
We are now endorsed as deductible gift recipients - i.e. tax deductible! Contributions can be made to our charity bank account:
