Blue Goose Therapy Services

Blue Goose Therapy Services Blue Goose Therapy Services offers Occupational Therapy, Speech Therapy & Physiotherapy to children.

Blue Goose Therapy Services is a private service inspired by a passion to initially assist children in achieving their goals in daily living. Due to demand from the community, this grew to include services for adults as well. Children's "work" is play, school, self-care & socialisation. When a child has a deficit in one of these areas, it can make any of these areas more challenging. Blue Goose offers assessment and individual treatment specifically targeted to your child's needs, providing OT, Speech Therapy, & Physiotherapy. Along the way we also educate parents/caregivers in how best to carry over these skills from the clinic to home, school and the playground. For adults; we provide Occupational Therapy and Physiotherapy assessment and treatment from our passionate therapists working in physical disability and in mental health (Psychosocial disability). We see NDIS Participants accepting Self Managed, & Plan Managed Participants.

We are so grateful to Find a Fairy Kalamunda and their hard working fairies for our new Blue Goose door..... our old door had taken a bashing from the intense weather it cops, and so it has now been transformed! πŸ™πŸ»πŸ’™

The rumours are true...the fairies have been renovating. We're loving what they've done with their home at Blue Goose Therapy Services 🧚🏼

Today we worked with Hannah from to re-trial a specialised carseat for this little gosling.

Master M is a little Houdini and likes to undo and get out of his seat mid journey 😫 πŸš—

This NDIS funded carseat will keep him safe whilst still being able to access the community, as will the new NDIS funded specialised stroller on order. πŸ’™

This new assistive technology will mean the world to this little family, but for his mum it means she can take Master M out without the fear he will undo his safety harness, run off, or refuse to walk which always means she has to carry him!

Meet Meagan πŸ’™

We're excited to welcome Hills local, Meagan, who has joined the Blue Goose Crew this year as an Occupational Therapist.

Some of you may recognise her from time she spent with us back in the day as a student, or as a volunteer at Blue Goose.

Meagan has an absolute passion for working with little goslings and they are equally drawn to her, engaging easily when she has been in their sessions.

Meagan will be seeing Blue Goose goslings Monday to Wednesday and on Fridays!

When she isn't being an amazing OT she enjoys travelling with her partner, cross training, yoga and staying organised πŸ’™

When you arrive for your appointment and make a new friend β™‘....
Social communication is a key factor in making new friends and as we return to school, or start school for the first time, we meet new people and learn new communication styles.
If you have a child that is struggling to make friends, take turns, share, approach others, or play with their peers, Speech Therapy may be able to assist in targeting such skills.

Why does it seem like all my child does is play games in OT???

What can we possibly be targeting when we play a game with your gosling?

Here's the why!

πŸ“play is one a children's occupations
πŸ“fine motor skills
πŸ“social communication
πŸ“winning/losing/turn taking
πŸ“attention and concentration
πŸ“self regulation
πŸ“visual perception
πŸ“executive functioning skills

And soooo much more! πŸ’ͺ🏼

Don't be frightened to ask us questions if you're not sure which goals we are trying to target!

Whilst we always try to be informative as we go through our sessions, sometimes we're just so caught up in the activities, because we LOVE play, that we might forget! πŸ’™

For a child that doesn't enjoy fine motor activities at school, this little gosling did pretty well in OT πŸ’™

So what made the difference?

πŸ“The theme was motivating to him
πŸ“The activity was achievable
πŸ“The activity was graded to his ability
πŸ“It was fun!
πŸ“We worked as a team
πŸ“He was encouraged and praised (even when he tried)

Pssttt....he also traced over his name, but we can't show you that for confidentiality reasons πŸ’™
