Flourish Assessment & Consultancy is coming to Kalgoorlie to offer specialist psychoeducational and diagnostic assessments for children and young people.

We’re excited to announce that we’ll be joined by a highly experienced Speech Pathologist from Realise Ability (based in Esperance) to provide multi-disciplinary autism assessments for: 🔹 Children under the age of 13
🔹 Children requiring formal diagnosis to access additional school supports or NDIS funding

These diagnostic assessments are comprehensive, collaborative, and neuroaffirming, designed to support families in understanding their child’s needs and accessing the right supports.

Other assessment options include:

What is a Learning Disorder?

Learning disorders are more than just “struggling with schoolwork.” They are neurological, lifelong conditions that affect how a person understands, processes, or communicates information—despite receiving quality teaching and putting in effort.

Common types of learning disorders include:
🔹 Dyslexia – affecting reading and spelling
🔹 Dysgraphia – affecting spelling and written expression
🔹 Dyscalculia – affecting number sense and mathematics

Children with learning disorders may have difficulty remembering basic facts, reading fluently, organising their writing, or solving problems with numbers. Importantly, these challenges are not related to intelligence or motivation. Many individuals with learning disorders are bright, creative, and capable—they simply learn differently.

Often, these difficulties go unnoticed until academic demands increase. Parents might hear things like:
🗣 “They just need to try harder.”
🗣 “They’ll grow out of it.”
🗣 “They’re just not paying attention.”

But the earlier we identify a learning disorder, the sooner we can put the right supports and strategies in place—at school and at home.
