We know National Volunteer Week officially wrapped up a little while ago, but we finally got to celebrate our amazing team yesterday at Dome Manning! It was fantastic to connect, share stories, and simply say a massive THANK YOU for everything you do. Celebrating 9 Incredible Years! 🥳🥳🥳

We are excited to celebrate a significant milestone, our 9th Birthday! This special occasion allows us to reflect on a fantastic year of growth and impact.

Becoming a registered charity in November has opened up new opportunities for us, and we owe a huge thanks to our incredible volunteers, who have been key to our success. Here are some highlights from the past year:

- 41 volunteers hosted 440 events, attracting 2,807 RSVPs.
- We contributed $74,271 of volunteer work to the local economy.
- Our community grew by welcoming over 1,116 new members.

Our members say it best:

"The atmosphere created by AMH events is warm, welcoming, and relaxed. These factors allow everyone to feel included and encourage social interaction, which helps make new friends."

"Sometimes, I may not feel up to meeting or going out because of my energy levels or capacity. However, whenever I do make an effort, I always feel a sense of joy and peace afterwards. The environment that AMH creates makes me feel safe to be myself."

"AMH has helped combat the stigma surrounding mental health struggles. As a member, I have connected with others and their lived experiences. I believe that is truly special."

Please look at our 9th-year report card, expertly prepared by our dedicated volunteer Li from Brisbane, on our blog.

it’s always lovely to see the impact that Activate Mental Health has in the community.

Recently, we collected testimonials for an upcoming grant application, reflecting the real impact of our TED Talk Discussion Group and monthly Board Games Night, both held at the Victoria Park Community Centre.

🎲 Board Games Night: For many attendees, this isn’t just a fun night - it’s a lifeline.

“As my wife passed away, it's the only time I've met with people as I'm not working.”

“I've got no family here, and I don't have many friends, so I really need to get out.”

“Both my daughter and I love going—it’s a safe space, especially for people who struggle with social interactions.”

🎤 TED Talk Discussion Group: A space for learning, connecting, and feeling truly seen.

“Unlike many events, this group has an incredible mix of people, spanning different ages and backgrounds.”

“As someone recovering from mental health issues, Activate Mental Health has been a place where I can simply be myself.”

“I am very socially awkward, but I look forward to attending every month—I always leave with a big smile.”

These events transform lives, creating friendship, support, and shared experiences that extend far beyond the night itself.
