❄️ Although egg quality is highest before 25, most people with ovaries don’t consider egg freezing that early - unless there’s a medical reason.

Planning ahead in your late 20s is a smart move, as research shows fertility decline becomes more noticeable after 35. That’s why early to mid 30s is often a common – and ideal – time to freeze eggs.

By then, many people have a clearer sense of their future, values, and whether egg freezing aligns with their family goals. It’s not just about biology, it’s about life timing and what’s right for you.

Curious if egg freezing is right for you? Contact Fertility North to explore your options.

July is Fibroid Awareness Month - a great moment to talk about just how common fibroids really are.

Fibroids are non-cancerous growths that develop in or around the uterus. Many people will have them at some point, often without any symptoms. While fibroids don’t always impact fertility, in some cases they can affect conception or pregnancy outcomes.

If you’ve been diagnosed with fibroids or have concerns, there are ways to manage them and options to support your reproductive health.

From our recent poll on the expectations vs. reality of fertility treatment, one message came through loud and clear: the emotional toll took many by surprise.

Fertility treatment can be overwhelming in ways that aren’t often spoken about, and that matters. Emotional wellbeing is just as important as the physical process and deserves more space in the conversation.

The term IVF is commonly used to describe fertility treatment as a whole, but when it comes to fertilisation, there are actually two main methods: IVF and ICSI.
👉 IVF (In Vitro Fertilisation) - Eggs and s***m are placed together in a dish to fertilise naturally.
👉 ICSI (Intracytoplasmic S***m Injection) - A single healthy s***m is selected and injected directly into the egg.

ICSI is often used in cases of male infertility or where previous fertilisation attempts were unsuccessful. In 2022, 56% of embryos transferred across Australia & New Zealand were fertilised using ICSI, not conventional IVF. Both methods are part of modern IVF and your doctor will recommend the one best suited to your individual treatment.

As Men’s Health Week comes to a close, here’s an important reminder: fertility challenges are not just a women’s issue. Many men face the emotional weight of trying to conceive. The pressure, shame, and frustration can take a toll, and often go unspoken. What’s more, stress, anxiety, and depression don’t just affect how you feel, they can also impact s***m quality. Prioritising your mental health is an important part of looking after your fertility.

To ensure we can begin your treatment on time, we need both your consent forms and screening bloods completed and returned before or on Day 1 of your cycle.
✔ Signed consent forms are a legal requirement that ensure you're fully informed
✔ Screening bloods expire every 12 months and must be up to date

This is especially important if you're planning back-to-back treatment cycles. Please check your paperwork ahead of time to avoid delays in starting your next cycle. If you have any questions about returning forms, please call Fertility North on 93011075.

It’s the start of Men’s Health Week, a perfect time to check in on your health - that means your mental, physical and reproductive health.
If you’ve ever been curious about your fertility or are planning for the future, a s***m test is a simple and informative way to get answers. It can assess s***m count, movement, shape, and even deeper issues like DNA damage or immune factors.
Testing is easy, affordable, and could be an important step in understanding your overall health. 💪🧪

While a short period of abstinence (1-3 days) can help optimise s***m count and quality, waiting too long can have the opposite effect. Older s***m are more likely to lose motility and DNA integrity, which can impact fertility.
If you're preparing for a semen analysis or trying to conceive, timing really does matter! 💡
