My son with ADHD hates homework time. How can i make it less of a battle every afternoon?

Homework battles are so common with ADHD, it's tough seeing them struggle, but you're doing brilliantly by seeking ways forward.
Break it into tiny chunks (10 minutes max) with a fun timer, maybe one that plays silly sounds, and pop in quick movement breaks (star jumps or a quick dance) to reset their brain.
Link it to what they love, like using Lego for maths or turning spelling into a game.
Praise the effort heaps:
"You stuck with that one for ages, legend!"
A randomised trial from PMC (2017) found behavioural strategies like parent training and daily report cards massively improved homework completion and accuracy for kids with ADHD, way more than meds alone in some cases.
Other tips from CHADD and Brightline echo short bursts, routines, and choice to cut frustration.
You're building their confidence one gentle step at a time.
Hang in there, you're his biggest cheerleader and you're doing a great job.

As a late-diagnosed autistic woman, how do I handle work burnout without quitting my job?

That's a great question, and you're wise to address burnout before it forces big changes.
Prioritise tiny daily recoveries: strict boundaries (no emails after knock-off), built-in decompression (a quiet walk, stim toys, special interest time), and if safe, disclose for accommodations like flexible hours or noise-cancelling gear.
Connect with ND communities for solidarity, they get it.
Research on autistic adults in the workplace (Job Demands-Resources theory) shows demands like sensory overload and masking spike burnout, but resources like micro-accommodations and self-regulation tools prevent crashes and improve quality of life.
A 2025 study emphasised tailored support stops the cycle.
You're allowed to protect your energy, it's not weakness, it's smart.
Small tweaks can make staying sustainable.

What's a simple way to explain neurodiversity to my young child's siblings so they understand?

What a kind thing to do, helping siblings feel included and understanding makes family life smoother and warmer.
Keep it super simple and positive: use everyday examples like "Brains are like different superpowers, some zoom fast with ideas (ADHD), some spot tiny details brilliantly (autism), and everyone's got their own strengths."
Read fun books together (like ones from Explaining Brains or NeuroWild) or watch short kid-friendly videos that celebrate differences.
Focus on "We all help each other in our family, your brother/sister might need quiet time, and you might need help with something too."
Resources from Vanderbilt Kennedy Center and sibling support guides stress age-appropriate chats that build empathy without blame.
It helps everyone feel valued.
You're creating such a supportive home, beautiful work.
Family love like yours changes everything.

I got my ADHD diagnosis late in life. how do I stop feeling like I wasted so much time?

Oh, I hear you, that grief and "what if" feeling hits hard after a late diagnosis, and it's completely valid.
Many people go through a mourning phase for the struggles without understanding why, but the flip side is you've built incredible resilience and strengths along the way.
Journal some past wins (big or small) to reframe: "I navigated that without tools, imagine what I can do now."
Start small with strategies that fit, like planners, apps, or body-doubling for tasks, to reclaim time moving forward.
A 2023 systematic review and other studies show late-diagnosed adults often feel regret at first, but processing it with compassion leads to kinder self-view and better wellbeing.
You're not behind, you're just getting the right map now.
Be gentle with yourself; this is a new chapter full of possibility.
Big virtual hug!

How do I help our teen with autism navigate social stuff at school without hovering too much?

That's a beautiful question, wanting to support without smothering shows how much you care.
Give them simple, ready-to-use scripts for chats, like "Can if I join?" or "What games are you playing?"
Practice at home in a relaxed way, maybe over a snack.
Encourage joining clubs tied to their passions (gaming, art, whatever lights them up), where friendships grow naturally through shared interests.
Role-play different scenarios gently, and remind them it's okay to step back if it's too much.
Research on PEERS (UCLA program) and other structured social skills interventions shows big gains in friendships and confidence for autistic teens when they learn concrete steps.
The goal here is empowering them to find their people, slow and steady wins.
You are amazing parents - they are very lucky to have you.

Quick neurodiversity reality check for Aussie workplaces:

Did you know?

Neurodiverse teams deliver up to 30% higher productivity.

Cheeky shoutout to Hewlett Packard Enterprise's Dandelion Program (via Harvard Business Review, where the pods basically outworked everyone else).

Inclusive organisations see 28% higher revenue and 30% better profit margins.

A cheeky high-five to Accenture's "Getting to Equal" report, proving disability inclusion (neurodiversity included) literally pays double dividends.

Forward-thinking companies report neurodivergent talent (including ADHD) driving 90-140% higher productivity in aligned roles, fueling breakthroughs and innovation worth millions.

A big cheeky wink to JPMorgan Chase's Autism at Work program (with a side nod to SAP's $40M tech fix courtesy of one neurodivergent brainiac).

These aren't fluffy feel-goods.

They're bottom-line wins.
