The Aged Care reforms introduced on 1 November 2025 are significant and complex.

As the reforms head toward the 6-month mark, COTA Australia and the Older Persons Advocacy Network (OPAN) are hosting 3 webinar sessions to provide another opportunity to have your questions answered. We've heard from many older people and their families about the impacts they've experienced since the reforms commenced, and the webinars will address a number of these topics.

WEBINAR: SESSION 1 Friday 8 May 2026 2.00pm - 4.00pm AEST (sold out).
WEBINAR: SESSION 2 Monday 1 June 2026 2.00pm - 4.00pm AEST.
WEBINAR: SESSION 3 Tuesday 30 June 2026 2.00pm - 4.00pm AEST.

You can register to attend any one of the webinars or all three of the sessions and as part of your registration, you can submit a question on any aged care reform issue that you’d like answered.

We encourage older Australians, their families and other supporters as well as interested community members to attend. These sessions are not designed for aged care providers or professionals.

Understanding what to expect from aged care services enables you to stay informed, maintain your independence and make decisions that reflect your needs and preferences.

In this OPAN webinar, we'll cover what you need to know about service agreements, how fee waivers and the financial hardship application process work, and the role of care management. We'll also explore the steps you can take if your services aren't meeting your needs.

Welcome, Leah!

We are thrilled to introduce Leah as our new Community Team Lead.

Leah joins us as an Enrolled Nurse with an impressive background spanning over 15 years in the aged care sector.

Much of her career has been dedicated to residential care, where she managed diverse teams across multiple sites and took on the vital role of staff trainer.
Notably, her leadership was instrumental during the pandemic, where she specialized in infection control to ensure the safety of both residents and staff.

As a leader, Leah is known for her "hands-on" approach. While she comes from the fast-paced world of residential facilities, she is embracing the transition to community care, recognizing that slowing down for a heartfelt chat over a cup of tea is just as essential to the job as the clinical support itself.

Outside of work, Leah is a proud mother of four. With three of her children now grown and living on the East Coast, her youngest keeps her busy at home. She is also a passionate home cook and a bit of a "Thermomix wizard," known for creating incredible meals from scratch.
When she isn't in the kitchen, you’ll likely find her traveling or enjoying quality time with friends and family over a delicious meal and an even better glass of wine.

We look forward to Leah’s leadership as she supports our growing team and continues to provide exceptional care to our clients and their families 💙

Kindness comes in many forms 🤍

I love this story as it highlights something so deeply human, the need to belong.

Belonging can come from the most unexpected places, and sometimes the smallest act of kindness can change someone’s whole world.

It’s a beautiful reminder that it’s always the right time to be kind and open.

You never know, you might just find the most incredible connections along the way 🤍

What an incredible day at our first expo 🎉

We had so much fun connecting with so many amazing people in the community. It was such a privilege to meet you all, hear your stories, and have meaningful conversations about your care needs and how we can support you or your loved ones.

Events like this remind us why we do what we do 💙 building genuine connections and making a real difference in people’s lives.

A huge thank you to everyone who stopped by to say hello, ask questions, or just have a chat. We’re so grateful for the support and can’t wait to keep these conversations going!
