A common question I get…

What’s the difference between 0.25mm and 0.5mm?

0.25mm
Ideal for glow, superficial rejuvenation, and enhancing product absorption.

0.5mm
This is where mild collagen stimulation begins.

Often used for texture, enlarged pores, fine lines, and superficial scarring.

But the most important thing?

Depth should always be chosen based on:

• the area treated
• skin thickness
• the concern being addressed

The eye area and forehead usually require a more superficial approach.

Cheeks can often tolerate slightly more depth.

One depth should never be used across the entire face without thought.

Collagen and elastin naturally decline from our 30s, and this is where many skin changes begin.

Collagen provides structure and Elastin allows your skin to bounce back.

Over time, factors like sun exposure, lifestyle, and environmental stress can accelerate this process contributing to changes in skin firmness, texture, and fine lines.

At PAUSE Cosmetic Skin Clinic, we focus on supporting the skin with evidence-based treatments tailored to you.

• Microneedling supports skin renewal and overall skin quality
• Ultraformer MPT targets deeper layers to support skin firmness

Every treatment begins with a clinical consultation to determine what is appropriate for your skin — with a focus on long-term, healthy outcomes.

Healthy skin. Strong barrier. Long-term results.

We’re hiring — Senior Beauty Therapist & Reception (Dual Role)

This is not a standard clinic position.

PAUSE Cosmetic Skin Clinic is seeking an experienced Senior Beauty Therapist who is equally confident delivering advanced skin treatments and managing front-of-house client experience.

This role is suited to someone who understands both sides of a high-performing clinic, clinical results and seamless patient journey.

Your role will include:
• Delivering advanced, evidence-based skin treatments
• Managing consultations and treatment planning
• Overseeing front desk operations and client flow
• Responding to enquiries, bookings, and lead management
• Creating a premium, calm, and professional client experience

We’re looking for someone who:
• Has a Diploma of Beauty Therapy (minimum)
• Is confident in advanced skin treatments and skin correction
• Communicates with warmth, clarity, and professionalism
• Is highly organised and thrives in a structured environment
• Understands client conversion and retention

What we offer:
• A refined, medical-grade clinic environment
• No weekend work
• Ongoing training and development
• A supportive, high-performing team culture

This is a leadership-level role within the clinic — suited to someone who takes ownership, values results, and wants to grow within an evidence-based aesthetic environment.

Lasers Explained Simply
Not all lasers are the same. The simplest way to understand lasers is to group them into three main chromophore categories being Melanin, Hemoglobin and Water. Meaning, they are categorised by what they target.
Every laser or light device interacts with something called a chromophore — the structure in the skin that absorbs light energy.
There are three main chromophores:
• Melanin (pigment)
• Hemoglobin (blood vessels)
• Water (resurfacing & collagen)
The wavelength determines which chromophore absorbs the energy.
And the chromophore determines the result.
Three clear examples (wavelength, typical device, typical indication):
Melanin: Alexandrite laser, 755 nm — targets pigment for hair removal and pigmented lesion treatment (effective for epidermal melanin; shorter pulses or Q‑switched variants used for tattoo/pigment removal).
Hemoglobin: Pulsed dye laser (PDL), ~585–595 nm — strongly absorbed by oxyhemoglobin; used for port‑wine stains, telangiectasias, rosacea, angiomas.
Water: CO2 laser, 10,600 nm — absorbed by water in tissue; used for ablative resurfacing, scar revision, strong collagen remodeling.
So next time you go for your laser appointment ask “What chromophore are you targeting and what settings are you using!”
