This year carries strong Fire energy fast-moving, expressive, and highly stimulating. From a Traditional Chinese Medicine perspective, Fire governs the Heart, circulation, emotions, and the nervous system.

In modern life, this energy can show up as momentum and motivation, but also restlessness, hormonal communication, disrupted sleep, emotional intensity, or burnout if not well supported. The year of the Fire Horse isn’t about pushing harder it’s about balance.

Through acupuncture and Chinese medicine, we focus on regulating excess stimulation, calming the nervous system, and nourishing the Heart so Fire can warm, connect, and inspire rather than overwhelm.

A year to move forward with passion and care.

Taiwanese researchers discovered acupuncture triggering stem cell release healing damaged organs naturally. Scientists at China Medical University found that electroacupuncture at specific meridian points stimulates bone marrow to release mesenchymal stem cells into circulation, which then migrate to injured organs and promote tissue repair. This mechanism explains acupuncture's therapeutic effects through measurable biological processes rather than placebo.

Traditional Chinese medicine has used acupuncture for thousands of years, but Western medicine dismissed it as placebo due to lack of biological mechanism. Taiwanese researchers using advanced imaging and cellular tracking discovered that needle stimulation at specific points triggers measurable stem cell mobilization—providing the first clear biological explanation for acupuncture's effects.

Electroacupuncture (needles with mild electrical current) at ST36 (Zusanli point) and GV20 (Baihui point) causes a 300% increase in circulating stem cells within 24 hours. These mobilized stem cells express homing signals drawing them to damaged tissues—injured liver, heart, kidneys, or brain—where they differentiate into organ-specific cells and release healing factors. It's like acupuncture triggers the body's internal repair dispatch system.

Stroke patients receiving electroacupuncture within 48 hours of stroke showed 40% better functional recovery than those receiving standard care alone. Liver cirrhosis patients showed reduced fibrosis markers. Heart attack survivors demonstrated improved cardiac function. The mechanism is entirely biological—traced stem cells from bone marrow to damaged organs. Skeptical Western physicians are reconsidering acupuncture given this mechanistic evidence. We're discovering that ancient healing practices work through sophisticated biological mechanisms science is only now capable of detecting.

The festive season can be joyful, but it can also place extra demand on your nervous system. Longer days, social commitments, disrupted routines, rich foods, late nights, and emotional pressure can gently (or not so gently) push the body into a constant state of “go”.

From a Traditional Chinese Medicine perspective, ongoing stress can lead to Qi stagnation, affect the Spleen Qi and Blood, Stagnate Liver systems, and disturb the Shen (spirit), Heart Yin. This may show up as tension, irritability, poor sleep, digestive upset, anxiety, or feeling emotionally overwhelmed.

Acupuncture works by helping the body shift out of survival mode and back into regulation. By calming the nervous system, supporting healthy circulation of Qi and Blood, and grounding the mind, treatments create space for rest, clarity, and balance even during the busiest time of year.

December doesn’t have to be about pushing through.
It can be about slowing down, listening in, and supporting your system so you can truly enjoy the season.

A gentle reminder: regulation is not a luxury; it’s essential.

The Many Benefits of Acupuncture 🧡

The Many Benefits of Acupuncture 🧡

One of the Effects of Acupuncture on the Body’s Systems:

Influence on the Body’s Defensive Function
1. Acupuncture enhances the body’s defensive function.
Studies have shown that acupuncture can increase the number of white blood cells, strengthen the phagocytic function of the reticuloendothelial system, and accelerate antibody production — thereby improving the body’s immune response.
2. Acupuncture improves non-specific immunity.
It activates the reticuloendothelial system, enhances its ability to engulf bacteria and foreign substances, and increases serum lysozyme activity and complement function, thus strengthening overall body defense.
3. Acupuncture also promotes specific immune responses.
It stimulates antibody formation, increases the weight and activity of immune organs such as the spleen, thymus, and lymph nodes, thereby boosting specific immune capacity.
4. Clinical observations show that:
Acupuncture at certain acupoints — such as Zusanli (ST36), Hegu (LI4), and Quchi (LI11) — can significantly improve patients’ resistance to disease, reduce infections, shorten the course of illness, and promote recovery.

In TCM, Qi isn’t just one thing; it moves, transforms, protects, and nourishes in different ways. Think of it as your body’s life intelligence, flowing through every system with a unique purpose

Yuan Qi (Original Qi) – Your deepest reserve of life force, passed down from your parents, stored in the Kidneys. It’s your baseline vitality and influences growth, development, and longevity.

Zong Qi (Gathering Qi) – Formed from the air you breathe and the food you digest, this Qi collects in the chest, supporting Heart and lung function, giving you breath, circulation, and strength in your voice.

Ying Qi (Nutritive Qi) – The nourishing current of energy, flowing with your blood in the channels and vessels. It’s what feeds your organs and keeps your tissues vibrant.

Wei Qi (Defensive Qi) – Your outer armor, circulating at the surface of your body. It guards against external pathogens, regulates pores, and maintains body temperature.

Together, these different forms of Qi weave the fabric of your health. When they’re strong and balanced, you feel resilient, centered, and alive. When one weakens or stagnates, disharmony can appear from fatigue to frequent illness, or emotional and digestive struggles.

Through acupuncture, herbs, and seasonal lifestyle guidance, TCM works to restore harmony between these Qi networks supporting you from your core vitality to your protective defenses.

Nourish your Qi, and your Qi will nourish you.

What is Qi?
In Traditional Chinese Medicine, Qi (pronounced ‘chee’) is your life force, the energy that flows through your body, traveling through your body's meridians, transferring your Qi around, and connecting organs and emotions for a smooth flow and balance.

When your Qi is flowing smoothly you feel energised, calm, and resilient.

When Qi is blocked or deficient, it may show up as fatigue, poor appetite, stress, pain, or lowered immunity.

How can you support your Qi?

Regular acupuncture treatments
Herbal Medicine tailored to suit your type of Qi deficiency.
Frequent movement (like Tai Chi, gentle walks, Pilates, and yoga). Something you enjoy
Nourishing whole foods – including breakfast, as this is the most important meal of the day
Rest and balance

18/09/2025

In Traditional Chinese Medicine, the gallbladder plays a unique role in both our physical and emotional health. While it stores and excretes bile to support digestion, in TCM its function goes far beyond that.

The Gallbladder’s Key Roles in TCM.

Assists the Liver in ensuring the smooth flow of Qi (energy)
Governs decision-making, clarity, and courage
Influences tendons and joint flexibility
Plays a role in sleep quality

When the gallbladder is balanced, we feel decisive, flexible, and clear-minded. When it’s out of balance, you may notice:
Indecisiveness or timidity
Headaches along the sides of the head
Trouble sleeping, especially waking between 11pm and 1am
Stiff tendons or joint discomfort

Connection to Spring
The gallbladder (paired with the liver) belongs to the spring season. Just as trees push upward and outward with new growth, our Gallbladder Qi gives us the courage and direction to move forward in life.

How TCM Supports the Gallbladder.
Acupuncture to move Qi, clear heat, and ease headaches or tension
Herbal medicine to support digestion and balance Wood energy
Seasonal living — eat fresh greens, stretch daily, and embrace new projects as nature awakens

Spring is the season of growth, clarity, and courage — the perfect time to nourish your Gallbladder and Liver using Acupuncture, TuiNa, and Herbs for a fresh start. 🌸

The Liver in Traditional Chinese Medicine

In TCM, the Liver is so much more than just a physical organ—it’s a vital system that governs the smooth flow of Qi (energy), Blood, and emotions throughout the body.

Key Functions of the Liver in TCM

* Ensures the smooth flow of Qi & emotions
* Stores and regulates Blood
* The smooth flow of the liver supports digestion by aiding the Spleen & Stomach
* Nourishes the tendons, ligaments & eyes

When the Liver is in balance, we feel flexible, calm, and energised. But when it becomes stagnant or overheated, symptoms may appear, such as:

Irritability or mood swings
Headaches or migraines
Fatigue or disrupted sleep
Digestive issues
Menstrual irregularities

How TCM supports the Liver
Acupuncture to move stuck Qi, ease stress, and restore balance.
Herbal medicine to cool excess heat, nourish Blood, and soothe the system.
Lifestyle & dietary guidance, eating more leafy greens, avoiding excess alcohol or greasy foods, and moving your body gently to support flow.

The Liver is deeply connected to our emotions, especially anger and frustration. Supporting Liver health means supporting both your physical and emotional wellbeing.
