One of the highest honours is for a mum to let another mum look after her child so when baby Ashana came into our care my heart broke for Ashana’s family. I knew their arms wouldn’t be holding her so I had the privilege of doing this for them. In the daytime I took Ashana into the fresh air to feel the warmth of the sun on her soft skin and in the evening I let her feel the brightness of the stars. I put a glade of grass in her tiny hand so she could experience the soul of the earth. I held her as often and as much as I could before she went on her final journey. We got mummy and daddy to send a lock of their hair to put in her hand and her brothers and sisters drew her pictures. She had lots of little toys and letters full of love to travel with her. When I said my final goodbye to Ashana I was devastated but I knew that I had carried out the honour of looking after her for her mum and dad. Ashana you never took a breath earth side but wherever you are now I hope you are giggling and running free in the most colourful of places. God bless little lady ❤️
