World Heart Day is celebrated every year on September 29 to shine a spotlight on cardiovascular diseases and encourage heart-healthy living around the world.

Let’s raise awareness about heart health and the global impact of cardiovascular diseases, the #1 cause of death worldwide.
The World Heart Federation and WHO have used this day to inspire action from individuals, communities, and governments to protect our hearts.

Congratulations to Beauaraba Living Op Shop, semi finalists in the Community Group of the year category.

This announcement follows months of advocacy from Ageing Australia and our members, as part of ensuring providers have the information they need ahead of the 1 November commencement date.

A huge thank you to providers for your tireless efforts to keep older Australians at the centre of this transition.

More information to come.

🌿 Dementia Action Week | 15–21 September 2025

“Act Now for a Dementia-Friendly Future”

At Beauaraba Medical Centre, we’re proud to support Dementia Action Week — a time to reflect, learn, and act to make our community more inclusive and supportive for those living with dementia and their families.

💡 Did you know? Dementia affects nearly 433,000 Australians — and that number is growing.

Here’s how we can all help:
✔️ Be patient and understanding
✔️ Support inclusive signage and environments
✔️ Learn the early signs and know when to seek help

We work closely with families, aged care staff, and the wider community to ensure compassionate, person-centred care every step of the way.

💬 If you or a loved one are concerned about memory changes, don’t wait — speak to your GP.

An opportunity to have your say.

An opportunity to have your say.

TALK ABOUT' is a way for Darling Downs and West Moreton PHN to ask you about your experience with health care in your community. We want to 'talk about' what you think is working well and what you think could be done better.

Rural Australians are missing out on $1,090.47 in healthcare funding per person, every single year. That’s a staggering $8.35 billion shortfall nationally.

This isn’t just a statistic - it translates to:
⚠️ Fewer doctors, nurses and allied health professionals in country towns.
⚠️ Longer wait times for basic and specialist care.
⚠️ Increased travel and out-of-pocket costs for families already under pressure.
⚠️ Widening health inequities between the city and the bush.

Behind the numbers are real people. Nearly a third of our population - 7.3 million rural Australians - are being left behind by a health system not designed for them.

We cannot accept that postcode determines health outcomes. We need fair funding, systemic reform and region-driven solutions that give rural and remote Australians the same access to quality care as their city counterparts.

The National Rural Health Alliance is calling for urgent action to close this gap.
