As we reach the end of a busy school term, it’s common to see kids feeling extra sensitive, worn out, and dysregulated.
�This next few weeks can put a lot of pressure on their nervous systems, making it a key time to check in!

Chiro is so much more than it gets credit for, and your health is suffering because of it.

As Chiro’s who’ve grown into the industry over the last decade, we’ve been in a unique position to have sat on the cusp of the old versus new in terms of education, technique and views on chiropractic care 👴🏼

A lot of what we saw in the industry as a whole wasn’t perfect - antiquated practices, un-scientific methods, a profit first mindset and chiros claiming they could cure and treat everything under the sun…

And unfortunately these industry practices lead to people understandably having a negative view of chiropractic care!

We wanted to change that which is why as young Chiro’s we took the risk to go out on our own and build something from the ground up. Something that not only reflected our values but was the embodiment of the change we wanted to see in the industry 🧡

Our team truly believe in chiropractic care. We’ll be the ones to tell you first hand the multitude of ways - beyond back pain - it has improved the lives of our patients and even ourselves.

Getting our patients their lives back is still one of the best parts of the job and any genuine Chiro will say the same!

We’ll never tell you a treatment one size fits all, but if there’s one thing you can take away from this post it’s this:

Never shame yourself for listening to your body.

We live in a world that constantly tells us to push harder - in health, work, life, and everything in between. We hear phrases like “push through the pain” or “no pain, no gain” so often that we start to believe ignoring our body’s signals is the key to success.

But all that really does is train us to distrust our own instincts. It teaches us to override the signals that are there to protect and guide us 🙃

Learning to listen to your body is a skill, and it’s one we help our patients develop all the time. Unfortunately, it’s something many of us have lost touch with. We’re so used to external advice about what we “should” be doing that we forget to tune in to what our body actually needs.

Building a true mind-body connection means acknowledging both the good and the uncomfortable. It’s about understanding when to challenge yourself and when to pause. And that awareness can transform not just your physical health, but your mental health too!

So here’s your reminder: when your body speaks, listen! 🧡

Movement is a crucial part of a healthy lifestyle, but never at the expense of your wellbeing. If you need to skip the gym today, cut your session in half, or swap your workout for a walk or a catch-up with friends you haven’t seen in ages, do it.

You’re not “failing” your goal, you’re reframing it. The goal was never just to exercise. The goal is to care for your body. And sometimes, the best way to do that is to slow down and give it what it truly needs.

✨ Our simple long weekend recovery guide ✨

We love a long weekend as much as anyone, but let’s face it, it can take its toll on our mind and bodies 😂😬

So here’s how to bounce back and ease into your week without overdoing it:

🤸 Keep moving

Resting all day 9/10 times only makes pain and stiffness worse. Try a short walk, gentle stretches, or movements targeting most commonly-tight areas like your lower back, neck, and hips.

🔥 Ice or heat?

* Ice: Best for inflammation or sharp pain (eg. lower back or hips after a long drive).
* Heat: Perfect for relaxing tight muscles in your shoulders, glutes, or your spine.

📝 Take it slow

Resist the urge to dive into “catch-up” mode. Overloading yourself is only going to make whatever stress and potential pain you’re feeling worse. Focus on small, manageable tasks - your to-do list isn’t going anywhere!

💧 Hydrate

Nothing screams long weekend like a lot of food, late nights, and bevs! Throw in Melbourne’s random 40 degree day and we know for a fact you’re dehydrated! Staying hydrated is essential to reduce inflammation and help lubricate your joints.

😮‍💨 Rest with deep breaths

Trust us with this one. Spend just 5 minutes on deep belly breathing to calm your nervous system and refocus your mind. Place your hands on your belly, letting them rise and fall with each deep breath in and out.

😴 Prioritise sleep

If your schedule’s been out of whack, use this week to reset your sleep routine. FYI if you think your sleep posture could be a key factor - ask us about it at your next visit!
