Hi everyone!

My awesome wife is taking part in Coastrek, a 35km hiking challenge in the southern Fleurieu. Together with her team of mates, they have been training for the Coastrek to raise funds for mental health at Beyond Blue.

Aisha is trying to raise $500 and I'd be so grateful if anyone would like to support her fundraising efforts for such an important and impactful area of our overall health that many people struggle with 🤯🥰

You can donate via this link: https://www.coastrek.com.au/s/62311/76558/e

Thank you for the consideration🙏🏽

Always love each other, support each others struggles and tread as lightly as we can on this beautiful planet ❤️

💢 Neck-related headaches getting in the way of daily life?

You could be dealing with a cervicogenic headache - a type of headache that stems from dysfunction in the neck joints, discs, or surrounding soft tissue.

🧠 These headaches often start at the base of the skull and can radiate to the forehead, temples, or behind the eyes.

👩‍⚕️ At our physio clinic, we use evidence-based techniques to treat the root cause — not just the symptoms. Treatment may include:
🔹 Manual therapy to restore movement in stiff cervical joints
🔹 Soft tissue release to relieve tension in neck and shoulder muscles
🔹 Targeted exercises to strengthen neck stabilisers, upper back and shoulder muscles

Our goal is to help you move better, feel better, and reduce headache frequency and intensity long term.

📅 Book an appointment today and start your journey to headache relief.

• If your headaches are concerning you - please make sure you speak to a health care professional •

WINTER and ARTHRITIS 🥴

There is so much evidence-based help available for arthritis sufferers ❤️

The colder months are here, as is less general activity, and both of these reason’s often lead to arthritis sufferers, suffering more over winter!

➡️ Arthritis is a common condition affecting 3.5 million Australians and refers to a group of conditions affecting the body’s joints and surrounding tissue.

➡️ Osteoarthritis (OA) and rheumatoid arthritis (RA) are the two most common types, with the most common symptoms being joint pain, stiffness and reduced function which can lead to disability and reduced quality of life.

➡️ For osteoarthritis of the knee, hip and hand there is considerable evidence showing strengthening exercises can improve overall long term function to the same extent that medication can, but without the side effects of pain killers and anti-inflammatory drugs.

➡️ For rheumatoid arthritis, evidence shows moderate to high intensity exercise (both aerobic and muscle strengthening) improves muscle strength and general fitness in the short term, and that these benefits can be maintained with longer-term exercise.

💥 Stiff neck? Tight calves? Persistent pain? Dry needling might be the missing link in your recovery! 💉💪

Dry needling targets myofascial trigger points (those tight, sore “knots” in your muscles) to reduce pain, improve mobility, and speed up healing. It works by stimulating a local twitch response, improving blood flow, and calming overactive nerves.

✅ Reduces muscular pain (Liu et al., 2015)
✅ Improves range of motion (Kietrys et al., 2013)
✅ Supports faster recovery in sports & rehab settings (Gattie et al., 2017)

When used in conjunction with exercise and good education it can be a really useful tool! Want to know if it’s right for you? Chat with your physio today.

❄️ Winter’s Here—Sheesh it was cold this morning!

As Physiotherapists, we know winter can lead to stiffness, soreness, and a temptation to slow down. But staying active (safely) is key to managing pain, preventing injury, and supporting your mental health.

Here are 5 Physio-approved ways to move well this winter:

1️⃣ Morning mobility – 5–10 minutes of gentle stretches to wake up joints
2️⃣ Low-impact home exercise – Use resistance bands, light weights, or bodyweight
3️⃣ Keep walking! – Rug up and hit your local trail or beach path

🌟 Winter is a great time to check in on old injuries or aches—don’t wait until summer to feel your best. Come see if our small group classes can kick start your exercise routine and keep you moving!

Men’s pelvic health is a topic that’s only recently becoming more common in physiotherapy practice, we were very lucky to have our clever Amanda run through some info with us last week!

Issues like pelvic pain, incontinence, erectile dysfunction, and post-prostate surgery recovery are more common than you think and they’re very treatable.

Whilst only Amanda remains qualified to treat men’s pelvic health issues, it’s excellent for all of our physio’s to continue to develop their skills and further their knowledge in this area!

Amanda works in clinic on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Saturdays - to make a men’s health appointment you can book online or call the clinic on 08 8297 6533

✨ Thinking about using a posture brace? ✨

They can be helpful **when used short-term and with proper guidance** but they’re not a long-term solution.

When used in conjunction with a strength and mobility program there is no harm, but don’t rely on a passive support where an active intervention will get you longer lasting results.

Focus on strengthening and movement first, support tools come second! If you have a question more specific to your situation, book in to have a chat to one of our physios and we can give more individual guidance.
