IFT – INTERFERENTIAL THERAPY.

IFT is a form of electrical stimulation (much like TENS) which has two alternating currents that are applied to the skin. Either 2 or 4 pads are applied to the skin with a damp sponge between the pads and the skin. This can stimulate nerves for muscle contraction of achieve pain relief. For muscle contraction, you will feel your muscles twitch or contract. For pain relief you will experience a tingling sensation

Who is it suitable for?
IFT can be used to stimulate weak muscles (resulting in increased strength, endurance and function), provide pain relief through the release of endorphins and increase blood flow to remove inflammatory toxins, easing swelling.

Our PSICPC team recently had an in-service on a common presentation to our clinic: low back pain. Our physio Matthew recently completed the APA spinal course, from which he gained significant insights and reported back to the group.

We were all interested to learn that low back pain is now classified as an epidemic, with more than 5 million Australians experiencing it daily. Shockingly, only 1 in 5 seek any form of treatment.

As a clinic, we find it crucial to provide valuable education and effective pain management treatments. These figures highlight gaps in service to the wider community and reinforce the importance of thorough and in-depth assessments to guide clients to the right management for their low back pain.

Reviewing the latest assessment techniques and evidence-based treatments has further prepared our team to deliver the best care for all back-related pain. Our team is ready to get you on the road to recovery. 🩻
