- Hip and Thigh Stretching: It deeply stretches the hips, groin, and inner thighs, releasing tension built up from prolonged sitting or activities like running and cycling.
- Shoulder and Neck Release: By resting the forehead on the floor and extending the arms, it alleviates tension in the neck and shoulders, which is beneficial for those with poor posture.
Digestive Aid: The compression of the abdomen massages internal organs, particularly the intestines, which can promote better digestion and reduce bloating.
Stress Reduction: The pose activates the parasympathetic nervous system, calming the mind, lowering heart rate, and improving sleep quality through deep, controlled breathing.
Spinal Stabilization: When performed after back extension poses (like Cobra), it acts as a counterpose to stabilize the spine and relax the abdominal muscles.

For those with knee issues, sacroiliac instability, or herniated discs, it is crucial to use modifications such as placing a pillow between the thighs and calves or under the hips to ensure comfort and avoid exacerbating symptoms. Always consult a healthcare provider if pain worsens or if you have specific spinal conditions.
