Labouring your way through? Here are some holistic pain management options to consider:

Breathing Techniques:
Take slow, deep breaths to help manage contractions and keep your mind focused.
Inhale strength, exhale tension.

Massage & Counterpressure:
A gentle touch from a partner or doula can work wonders.
Try back rubs, hip squeezes, or pressure on your lower back.

Position Changes:
Move around! Different positions can ease discomfort and help baby navigate the birth canal.

Warm Compresses:
A warm, soothing compress on your lower back or abdomen can offer relief and relaxation.

Visualizations & Affirmations:
Channel your inner strength by visualizing a calm place or using positive affirmations to stay centered.

Water Therapy:
Warm baths or showers can help relax your muscles and provide a comforting environment.

Remember, it's about finding what resonates with you and making your labour journey uniquely yours.

You've got this! 💪🌟

Birth planning or birth preferences as I like to call it is a beautiful way to envision your journey and communicate your preferences.

The process of creating your birth plan is about discovering what feels right for you.
Each choice you make reflects your values, preferences, and hopes.

Embrace this time as an opportunity to connect with yourself, your partner, and your baby on a profound level.

During skin-to-skin contact, the baby's sensory system is stimulated by the parent's touch, smell, and voice.
This sensory experience can enhance brain development, regulate stress hormones, and improve sleep patterns.
Additionally, skin-to-skin contact can stimulate the baby's instinct to
breastfeed, supporting early breastfeeding initiation and successful latch.

For the parent, skin-to-skin contact encourages the release of prolactin, a hormone responsible for milk production, and oxytocin, which aids in uterine contractions and postpartum healing.

The physical closeness promotes feelings of confidence and competence in caring for the baby, reducing parental stress and anxiety.

Skin-to-skin contact offers a multitude of advantages, including temperature regulation, bonding, emotional attachment, stabilized physiological responses, enhanced brain development, and improved breastfeeding initiation.

It is a simple yet powerful practice that provides both immediate and long-term benefits for both the baby and the parent.

When it comes to bringing your little one into the world, exploring various labour positions can be incredibly empowering. Here are six positions to consider during labour:

🌼 Standing or Leaning Forward: Gently sway or lean on a support or support person, allowing gravity to lend a hand. This position can help progress labour and ease discomfort.

🌼 Squatting: Channel your inner warrior by squatting. It widens the pelvis and facilitates baby's journey down the birth canal.

🌼 All-Fours: On your hands and knees, the all-fours position encourages optimal fetal positioning and provides relief from back pain.

🌼 Side-Lying: Resting on your side can be soothing and offers a change of pace. It also encourages efficient contractions.

🌼 Reclining: In a semi-reclined position, you can relax between contractions and summon the strength for each surge.

🌼 Supported Squat: With assistance from a birthing bar or partner, embrace a squatting position. This opens the pelvis and aids the birthing process.
Remember, every birthing journey is unique, and finding the positions that resonate with you can contribute to a positive experience. Trust your instincts and move where you feel most comfortable. 🌈🫄🏻

Every woman is different and may experience different symptoms.
You may experience all of them or none of them but it is good to know the signs to look out for.

While in early labour, stay calm and try to do something relaxing. Enjoy some one on one time with your partner, a luke-warm bath, ask your partner for a massage..
Let that natural oxytocin flow to encourage the instinctive process of labour.
Preserve your energy and carry on with your day/night.

🌼

What were your first signs of labour?
I did unnecessary loads of laundry and my waters broke like the movies.

Hello,
My name is Lily 🌞
I live on Kaurna Country, near the western beaches of Adelaide. I am a mother of 2 boys, and I worked in childcare for over 6 years before deciding I wanted a change in career.

Both my pregnancies were quite traumatic for me, I was diagnosed with severe hyperemisis gravidarium until 34 and 36 weeks.
I had hoped that my birth's would be smooth, although they didn't go as planned.
My voice was taken away, I felt alone, and I ended up with post natal depression with my second child.

I have been on a long healing journey since and I couldn't be happier, I am attuned in Reiki 1 & 2 and this is something I love to offer to mothers throughout the period of pregnancy, birth and post partum.

I want to be the voice for women, help them understand that pregnancy and birth aren't always perfect, and that's perfectly okay.
If I can help guide women, educate them on their options, letting them make their own decisions, and be a support mentally, physically, emotionally, and spirituality, then that's all I truly want.

Reflecting back on my births, I feel having a Doula by my side would have had a great impact on my preferences and avoided half of the situations I was put in.

I have a passion for helping people, and that's what I plan to do.

I am currently studying with the Australian Doula College

To become fully qualified, I will need to witness three births - either for expectant mothers or siblings who would benefit from my support.
If this is something you would be interested in, please send me a pm, and I will get the ADC to contact you with all of the details

Love,
Lily 🌻💛

A Doula is a trained professional who provides continuous physical, emotional, and informative support during pregnancy, birth, and the postpartum period to help clients achieve the healthiest and most satisfying experience possible.

Whether it is your first baby or not, a doula can help make your birth experience feel more at ease.

My goal is to help women feel supported, heard, and guided to trust their intuition during their birthing journey.

I am a current student with the Australian Doula College
I am currently looking for women who will allow me to support their birth to complete my qualification, or if you feel your current child would benefit from support, I'd love to be there for a sibling through the transition.

If this is something you would be interested in, please send me a pm, and I will have the ADC contact you with all of the details 🤍

A herbalist is someone who uses plants for healing, making herbal supplements or botanicals from the leaves, flowers, barks, and roots of plants.

A herbalist is someone who takes a holistic approach to medicine and treating patients, looking at the underlying causes of an illness, not just the symptoms.

I have always had a passion for plants. My grandfather was a herbalist. I am following in his footsteps by growing my own herbs and medicinal flowers in my own backyard.

I intuitively create teas, bath mixtures, yoni steams, and plant medicine capsules.
I hope to continue adding more items and open an online shop once my website is up and running in October

Reiki is a gentle and non invasive energy healing technique in which a reiki practitioner guides healing energy into the receivers body in order to promote the natural flow of energy through the body and energy field.

A reiki practitioner does not heal you. They are there to hold space for you while you awaken your inner healer so that you may heal yourself.
Reiki promotes a feeling of rest and relaxation.

Reiki is a holistic healing modality. It works not just on the physical and emotional body but also our energy body and spiritual body.

Are you feeling off today? Frustrated? Overwhelmed?
Kids aren't acting themselves?

Yep, me too.
The blue moon is out tonight and tomorrow 🌝
It's not actually blue, but it is super
Confusing??

I'll break it down for you . On August 1st, we had a full moon. The second full moon takes place on the 31st of August, making it a blue moon. The second full moon in the same month.
This only happens once every 2 or 3 years - hence the phrase, once in a blue moon..

During this time, you may have a strong sense of things you may need to release or let go of so that you can reach the next level and evolution of your life.

This full moon may also reveal your once in a blue moon dreams - dreams and goals that you may fear or push down because you feel they are too bold and would never come true.

It will show you what you have to offer and your potential.

Let go of what is holding you back, be in the moment, and make space for the new.
You have the potential to make your dreams come true. All you need to do is trust in yourself.
