Something fascinating happens in menopause that no one really talks about.
As estrogen and progesterone decline, other hormones shift. The brain rewires. The systems that once helped us smooth things over, keep the peace, and prioritise everyone else begin to soften. And many women start caring less about what people think.
Boundaries become clearer while tolerance for crap gets lower. The voice inside that used to whisper starts speaking out loud!
I’ve been reflecting on this a lot lately. On what it means to speak honestly and how that feels in my body (sometimes uncomfortable as I lean more into honouring me). It has taken practice to find my voice, but I’ve noticed every time I do, my confidence builds and I feel lighter and whole.
Perhaps menopause isn’t just a hormonal transition. Perhaps it’s also an invitation to stop editing yourself and finally stop living according to everyone else’s expectations. 🤗

International Women’s Day. An impromptu Sound Healing from my back garden. Healing all women, healing our Mother Earth, collaborating with the cleansing Spirit of the wind, and the steadfast presence of our Jacaranda Tree. Sound on, eyes closed, this is for you this Sunday. ~ Kyrie 💚
“On this day we remember the women of the earth.
The ones who came before us.
The ones walking beside us.
And the ones who will come after us.
We remember their strength.
Their endurance.
Their quiet, untold courage.
Because to live as a woman in this world has never been simple.
Across continents and cultures women are carrying more than they should have to carry.
Some are rebuilding what was destroyed.
Some are protecting their children through uncertainty.
Some are standing in places where even their voices are not welcome.
And still, women endure.
Even now, women are still fighting to be safe.
Still fighting to be heard.
Still fighting for the simple right to live freely in their own bodies.
And yet something ancient lives inside women.
Something instinctive.
Something untamed.
The old stories speak of her.
The woman who runs with the wolves.
The woman who listens to the deep voice in her bones.
The woman who senses truth long before the world gives it permission.
The woman who refuses to abandon her instinct.
She has walked beside women for centuries.
Through war.
Through exile.
Through loss.
Through rebirth.
She has never disappeared.
She rises whenever a woman dares to remember who she truly is.
She lives inside every woman who refuses to forget her wild soul.
To every woman standing in uncertainty.
To every sister who has lost her home, her safety, or her sense of direction.
You are not alone.
Across the earth women are still holding the fire for one another.
We are daughters of women who survived.
We are sisters walking each other home.
And we are the mothers of a future that still needs our courage.
“You may shoot me with your words,
You may cut me with your eyes,
You may kill me with your hatefulness,
But still, like air, I’ll rise.”

Last week something very sweet happened at my Sound Nest at The Dock Studio.
Denis agreed to help me by welcoming everyone, checking names, making tea, quietly supporting me and the space before it even began. Having that extra pair of hands was so good.
At one point I asked Denis if he’d like to help with the Koshi chimes. I said, “I’ll start on one side, you on the other… so we’re creating sound from both sides of the circle at the same time. Follow my lead.” He willingly agreed.
Playing the chimes, we caught each other’s eyes across the room… and he divinely blew me a kiss. I blew one back. It was ridiculously sweet!
It was such a short moment but it held so much. My heart fluttered. Our shared love, so steady and deep, quietly helping to hold the sacred space we had created for those who were there.
I am grateful for how Denis has always shown up and is open to all things. Not just for me but for my vision. He has been behind Kindred Self since the very beginning helping with markets, pop-ups, renovations, product production etc. Ten years of Kindred Self growing and shifting… and he’s been there quietly scaffolding my dream. 💚
And now 2026 marks the beginning of his new chapter as a Counsellor after completing his AIPC Diploma in 2025. I really couldn’t be prouder.
Introducing my best friend, my favourite person, my husband.
Who knows what’s next for us Denis, maybe you will learn the Handpan Drum!! 😉

Last night Jak and I ran our first ‘Embodied Energy Healing’ for the year at Urban Wellness
Oh wowsers(!), what a potent and sacred session it was.
It really is such a beautiful thing to create a space for people who crave to be seen, felt, and loved unconditionally. A space where you can safely open up to what lies beneath the surface. A space to be safely vulnerable and held to release any heaviness.
There are not many experiences out there where you truly can feel the care is tailored to you, and the group as a whole, and this is what we do with consideration, attention to detail and genuine intent.
Every cell in my body is telling me this work is so very much needed right now.
This is our unique love language and why we exist.

Resting on the couch after three busy days in the shops, the exhaustion has finally hit home…
Vex King’s words really landed for me this week - ‘Christmas can be loud with expectations, but quiet with understanding. Not everyone has the energy to celebrate - some are grieving, some overwhelmed, some just staying afloat. It’s a gentle reminder to meet people where they are. Grace matters more than cheer. If someone seems distant this Christmas, assume they’re carrying more than you can see. Mental health doesn’t take holidays off. Joy is not mandatory this season. Kindness is.’
A customer said to me yesterday, “I can’t wait for Boxing Day - in my PJs all day.” Honestly… I feel the same. “Happy Boxing Day”, I said.
Right, so phone off, noise down. I’m hopping off the Christmas train and straight into Boxing Day! No expectations, no obligations, just quietly creating my own pocket of peace. Happy Boxing Day to you! 😉
And…
Thank you for supporting Kindred Self throughout your year. I hope our products and sound experiences brought you many little pockets of quiet, peace and joy.

December has arrived, and with it comes that familiar rise in pace … the lists, the plans, the gatherings, the emotions. This season can feel BIG in so many ways.
And in the midst of all that bigness, I’m reminded of Donna Ashworth’s beautiful words:
“When everything feels too big, go little. Wrap yourself with grace and space, nibble your to-do’s, just one tiny bite at a time. You can’t outrun overwhelm, my friend, but you can stay so still that it passes you by. If you want to get more done, do less.Stress dissipates in the face of guilt-free, intentional rest.”
This is exactly what Sound Nest offers. A place to go little. To pause. To soften the inner edges. To settle your breath and make space in your system before the season gathers speed.
Join me for the final Sound Nest of the year at Urban Wellness - a restful, nurturing meditation experience to help you:
✨ Soothe an overwhelmed nervous system✨ Release what the year has asked you to carry✨ Clear mental clutter✨ Restore balance and inner spaciousness
Let this be your guilt-free, intentional rest before stepping into the fullness of the festive season!
Join me for a Sound Healing experience this month to gently crack yourself open and fill yourself up with all the good nourishment of the sounds, vibrations and frequency of my sacred sound bowls.

I’m currently crafting up some new wellness experiences combining yoga, breath and sound healing.
To help me refine and tailor these new offerings, I’ve put together a short survey to gather some feedback from you. Your input will help me to offer something that is relevant to your needs.
Kindred Self began in a small vestibule of an old Croydon hall with One Small Room where I offered counselling & design. Just a few months later, the real dream arrived - a little shop on Jetty St in Grange became available. I kid you not, 5 years earlier I’d stood across the road from the same building & said to Denis, “One day, I want to have that little shop, I’m not sure what I will be doing there, but I really want it. It’s so cute!”
And somehow, I was chosen for a 3 year lease. Denis and I painted the door green, designed the space with a kitchenette, desk, mini shop and counselling nook - and from there, the story of Kindred Self really began.
With the help of the community, we planted a succulent garden out the front, shared endless cups of tea, & poured love into that little wellness hub. It often felt like I was just a kid playing shop keeper, yet it was the foundation for so much more. Many connections made, a sense of being in the world making a small difference.
Between 2015–2018 this tiny space became:✨ Home to our launch tea party for about 40 peeps✨ A stop on Sarah Shanahan shopping tour ✨ Host to a delightful SALA exhibition with Sarah Keane ✨ The perfect springboard to launch Kindred Self products into the world
This space also welcomed other starting out therapists - an energy healer, massage therapist, & my beautiful counselling friends Cherrie and Robyn, creating a true little wellness hub.
I also shared my aromatherapy knowledge on two Bali retreats with Anne from Barefoot and Thankful , popped up at markets like WOMAD & Bowerbird, & made connections with incredible women like Kirsty gutrecoverycentre and Tina OmMade Organic Skincare , who would later become such a big part of my business journey.
Of course, it wasn’t all smooth. By 2017 I had overcommitted, pushed myself too far & ended up with shingles on my face for the first time. Poor Denis had to cover our Marion Christmas pop-up solo! A bit of a bummer & a lesson learned as to what my limits were. But it was worth it in the end because the Marion pop-up gave me the funds to take the next big leap…
💚 In 2018, the Port Adelaide building I’d applied for when I also applied for the grange shop became available again. Our Marion popup gave me the ability to raise the required bank guarantee and go for it!
With one year left on my Grange lease, I partnered with Lauren Have You Met Charlie?, and we transformed the space into Concept Studio for pop-ups and workshops.
Looking back, I can hardly believe how much happened between 2015–2018. It was a season of energy, creativity, and joy. I’m endlessly grateful to Denis for being by my side through every project and wild idea. We may not have children together, but we’ve certainly birthed so many beautiful creations into the world.
Part 2 coming soon ✨ 2018-2025
