I am Dr Mlawanda, aka Dr M or simply Ganni and am a FACRRM-qualified specialist GP with over 20 years of clinical experience, gained primarily in South Africa.
Apart from core rural generalist skills, I have special interest in youth health, dermatology & mental health.
My approach to care is holistic and person-centred, grounded in the belief that humans are not all about organs, organelles & organisms, but about context, connection, and meaning.
I have a strong understanding of youth issues and recognise that young people are not simply “small adults” — their physical, psychological, cultural and social needs are unique and evolving. Youth are individuals first, diagnoses second: hence need for personalised care. I aim to provide a personalised, safe, respectful and collaborative space where young people feel heard and supported.
Outside of clinical work, I enjoy maths & statistics, fishing, jogging and travelling, which help me maintain balance and perspective.

It's Work & Study Wednesday
The IPS Work & Study team were recently transported to Toadwarts for our staff Christmas party. Unfortunately our owls were late so we didn't get to stay, but the night we spent there was lots of fun and we used our skill sets to find the missing Philosopher's Scone.
These photos and more can be seen on our new and improved Meet the team & brag board displays at the headspace office. Come in for a look at 16-20 Railway Parade and to find out more about how the team can use their witchcraft & wizardry to help your reach your work & study related goals.

It's Work & Study Wednesday
On Halloween our Vocational Specialist/Vocational Peer Support Worker Konnor attended the Community Halloween Disco. He joined other members of the headspace team in manning the temporary tattoo station. He had a great time connecting with all the young people and trying to convince them that this is how he looks everyday.
Come see us in person at 16-20 Railway Pde or call us on 08 8641 4300 to discuss how the Work & Study team can support you.

IT'S WORK AND STUDY THURSDAY!

The headspace IPS Work & Study team whizzed down to the foreshore to hang out with the Community Engagement team to celebrate headspace Day last Friday!

We played some fun games, had some great conversations, ate some yummy pizza, and brushed up on some of our aiming skills and throwing strength (sorry, not sorry Konnor! 😂).

Konnor might be in danger of a headache, but you don't have to be when it comes to getting a job or seeking study opportunities. Find out more about how we can help, call us 📞 8641 4300 or come and visit us 🏠 16-20 Railway Parade
