Barunga by the Sea has been designed to ensure you retain your independence and privacy, while enjoying the wonderful lifestyle benefits of Port Broughton. Our low maintenance homes allow you to do more of the things you enjoy, all whilst feeling safe and secure in our retirement village. The village has a modern community centre with heated swimming pool and gym, caravan and boat parking, a community garden, is pet friendly and has a walking track directly into the heart of Port Broughton. Barunga Community Care offers a range of services to people living in the Mid North and Yorke Peninsula regions, and everywhere in between. Our services can now be delivered to your home to help you… wherever you live. There are two levels of Government subsidised support for eligible people who wish to remain in their own home for longer. The entry level support services are through the Commonwealth Home Support Program (CHSP) which offer assistance with transport and domestic services. The next level of support is a Home Care Package (HCP) which is a personalised package of care customised to suit your needs. It may include services such as domestic assistance, personal care (bathing and dressing etc.), social support, meal preparation, shopping, light gardening, transport and medication support. Private fee-for-service is also available upon request if you are unable to/or do not wish to use Government subsidised services. RESIDENTIAL

Barunga Village proudly offers residential care at two welcoming locations: Barunga Homes in Port Broughton and The Willochra Home in Crystal Brook. Barunga Homes is an award-winning aged care facility, specialising in dementia care. Located in the delightful seaside town of Port Broughton on the Yorke Peninsula, each of the 87 rooms offer an ensuite and outdoor views. The Willochra Home, located in the heart of Crystal Brook, continues Barunga Village’s tradition of respectful, relationship-centred care. With 34 fully serviced rooms, it offers both high and low-level care in a welcoming country-style setting. Our holistic services provide our consumers priority access to additional services within Barunga Village, as their health needs change. CRYSTAL BROOK COMMUNITY OP SHOP FUNDRAISER

We are excited to share that throughout the month of February, all funds raised at the Crystal Brook Community Op Shop will be donated to The Willochra Home. This is a wonderful opportunity to support our House Members while connecting with the local community.

Starting: Monday 2 February 2026
Opening hours: 9:00am – 3:00pm, Monday to Saturday (dependent on volunteer availability)
Location: 43 Bowman Street, Crystal Brook

There are many ways you can support our fundraiser. You can visit the op shop and make a purchase during the month of February, donate quality pre-loved items directly to the store or consider volunteering your time alongside our friendly team. We would love to welcome you.

DECEMBER HIGHLIGHTS AT THE WILLOCHRA HOMES

We know it is a little late, but we could not miss the chance to share some of the wonderful Christmas festivities that filled The Willochra Home in December.

Our House Members came together to enjoy a delicious Christmas lunch, sharing laughter, good food, and meaningful moments. We were also delighted to welcome a very special visitor, Santa, who stopped by to deliver gifts and plenty of smiles.

Even our much-loved pet dog, Sahara, got into the festive spirit.

SOCIAL ACTIVITIES – JANUARY 2026

We are excited to share our bus trip schedule for January 2026! Our Social Activities program is the perfect opportunity to stay active, meet new people, and explore new hobbies.

In December our group enjoyed a trip to Marek Herburt's gallery in the Clare Valley, followed by a stop at Shut The Gate Winery. A trip to Wallaroo for a Christmas themed scavenger hunt and a tour of the Moonta Churches.

We have a great range of bus trips scheduled for January and look forward to sharing them with you.

DECEMBER HIGHLIGHTS AT BARUNGA HOMES

Throughout December, our House Members enjoyed a festive month filled with Christmas cheer across the Homes. From gingerbread making at our Intergenerational Playgroup to dancing and singing with the many wonderful entertainers, there was no shortage of smiles and joy.

Our Christmas party was a highlight of the month, a beautiful day full of fun, delicious food, laughter and topped off with a special visit from Santa.

CHRISTMAS WISHES TO YOU THIS FESTIVE SEASON

As the festive season approaches, we would like to take a moment to wish you a very Merry Christmas and a safe, happy New Year. Thank you for being part of our community throughout the year.

Please see our office hours over the Christmas and New Year period below.

Head Office
Head Office will close from 12:30pm on Wednesday 24 December 2025. It will reopen on Monday 29 December 2025 at 8:30am.
It will also be closed at end of day on Wednesday 31 December 2025 and will return to normal operations on Monday 5 January 2026 from 8:30am.

Retirement
The Barunga by the Sea office will close from 12:30pm on Wednesday 24 December 2025. It will reopen on Monday 29 December 2025.
The office will then close again at end of day on Wednesday 31 December 2025 and will reopen on Monday 5 January 2026.

Community
Barunga Community Care offices (Port Broughton and Crystal Brook) will close from 12:30pm on Wednesday 24 December 2025. They will reopen on Monday 29 December 2025 at 8:30am.
The offices will also be closed end of day Wednesday 31 December 2025 and will return to normal operations on Monday 5 January 2026.

Residential
The Willochra Home and Barunga Homes will continue operating as normal throughout the holiday period. Reception at both Homes will be unattended on public holidays, however care staff will be available to assist.

SIP & STYLE FUNDRAISER RAISES OVER $14,000!

We are thrilled to share the wonderful success of our first-ever Sip & Style Fundraiser, held on Friday 21 November.

Thanks to the generosity of everyone who attended and supported the event, we raised an incredible $14,615.80. All funds raised will go towards purchasing and installing new external shade sails at Barunga Homes, helping create safer and more comfortable outdoor spaces for our House Members to enjoy year-round.

Our Sip & Style afternoon brought together 120 women from across the local region and Adelaide for a beautiful event featuring a catered high tea, licensed bar, Moda Bella fashion parade, silent auction and raffles.

We extend our heartfelt thanks to our dedicated Barunga Village team and volunteers, as well as all sponsors and attendees who helped make the day such a success. Your generosity supports our ongoing commitment to creating vibrant, welcoming spaces for the people who call Barunga Village home.

INTERGENERATIONAL PLAYGROUP – MONDAY 8 DECEMBER

Join us on Monday 8 December for our final Intergenerational Playgroup for the year! We will be celebrating with a fun and festive gingerbread decorating activity as well as a range of other activities for all ages to enjoy together.
