YIN Yoga is an approach to Yoga practice that attempts to create deep quiet and space in both body and mind.
With a focus on fascial, ligament and joint release, YIN loads rather than stretches, relaxes and releases rather than activating. Fewer Asana are held for longer periods with attention on awareness, presence and breath. Passive Asana placements use support props to encourage flow along energy lines governing organ pairs according to Meridian theory principals.
With modern lifestyles that seek more and more physical and emotional satisfaction, YIN instead asks us to reduce in order to nourish, to release rather than accumulate, to do less and pay more attention, to look inwards rather than seek outwards.
