What do you know about your lymphatic system? Probably not much. It's something that most doctors spend only about 30 minutes of their entire education on. The lymphatic system drains fluid (toxins) from our skin, joints, muscles, and organs. It is our filtration system for our body.

The human body has 600-700 lymph nodes. My lymphatic system doesn't function properly in my leg which is what leads to lymph fluid getting backed up and causing swelling.

Do you have arm lymphoedema following breast cancer?

You may qualify for our clinical trial

Are you 18-80 years old?

Was your breast cancer surgery more than 6 months ago?

Have you completed all of your intensive breast cancer
treatment (chemotherapy and / or radiation) at least 3 months ago?

Has your arm lymphoedema been diagnosed as Stage 1 or 2 at least 3 months ago and is stable?

If you answered ‘yes’ to all these questions, you may be eligible for a research study of an investigational medication.

All study-related care is provided to you at no cost. The study has a 6-month treatment period with a screening period (up to 3 weeks) before treatment and a 6-month follow-up period after treatment. Treatment involves taking capsules twice a day.

The study is being conducted by Dr Helen Mackie and the ALERT team at Macquarie University and is funded by Pure Tech Health.

If you are interested in finding out more about this study, please contact the research team on 02 9850 2388 or alertresearch@mq.edu.au.

For general information about participant rights, please contact the Macquarie University Ethics Secretariat on 9850 4194 or ethics.secretariat@mq.edu.au.
