Having a social life or a hobby is huge, and it is not something you should ever be held back from doing.

Issues like tinnitus and social anxiety make social settings and hobbies much harder, if not impossible, for a lot of ex-service members to deal with. These are also issues that often get worse with time and are frequently left unchecked because they were "tolerable" when you first left the service.

Under the new rules, if your condition has worsened by at least 5 points, you can trigger a new PI assessment. If you’ve been "putting up with it" for years and it’s getting harder to manage, now is the time to review your file before the transition to the Single Act model on July 1, 2026.

It is free to fill out an enquiry form.
It is free to book an appointment with a case manager.
Free advice, education and guidance.

Veterans often only claim for their primary injury (e.g., a knee reconstruction), but ignore the "secondary" issues it causes.

More often than not, the effects of an injury carry over to other parts of the body and mind over time. These issues need to be recognised, not ignored.

Knowing which pathways to take makes the difference between simply "putting up with it" and receiving the services you are entitled to.

That is why we exist.

Panel Speaker Announcement 🔥

Kristian Lannu is the Founder and Managing Director of AVAC Services, a veteran-focused advocacy and consulting organisation born from lived experience and a deep commitment to change.

Having faced service-related injury and his own battles with suicidality, Kristian brings a raw, real-world understanding to the work he does supporting veterans through some of their toughest moments.

What started as hands-on support helping veterans navigate complex DVA and compensation systems has grown into something much bigger, a mission to improve systems, raise standards, and remove barriers to care.
Today, Kristian works at a strategic level, strengthening collaboration between government, providers, and community organisations to create more effective, sustainable support for veterans and their families.

With AVAC Services transitioning into a regulated legal firm under Standto Legal in 2026, Kristian continues to push for greater accountability, professionalism, and real impact across the sector. A respected speaker in the mental health and veteran space, Kristian uses his lived experience to challenge stigma, spark important conversations, and advocate for practical solutions that truly make a difference.

Great write-up on our Owner/Operator ❤️

We’re incredibly excited to be partnering with PTSD Resurrected inc. Our shared passion for supporting veteran wellbeing aligns perfectly.

Here’s a little more about the Behind The Mask Gala 2026 naming sponsors

Kristian is the Founder and Managing Director of AVAC Services, a veteran-focused advocacy and consulting organisation established during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic. His pathway into this work is deeply personal. Having experienced multiple su***de attempts and service-related injury, Kristian brings lived understanding that shapes his commitment to supporting veterans through some of their most challenging periods.

What began as hands-on casework helping veterans navigate DVA claims and complex compensation systems has grown into a broader mission: improving systems, raising standards, and removing barriers to care and support.

Today, Kristian works primarily at a strategic level as a Director and Consultant, focusing on sector-wide impact. He strengthens collaboration between government, providers, and community organisations while building sustainable frameworks that improve outcomes for veterans and their families.

A significant milestone in this journey is the transition of AVAC Services into a regulated legal firm, operating under Standto Legal, with completion expected by mid 2026. This reflects a deliberate move toward greater accountability, professionalism, and trusted legal representation within the veteran support space.

Kristian is also a respected speaker in the mental health and veteran community, drawing on his lived experience with suicidality and recovery to raise awareness, reduce stigma, and advocate for practical, forward-thinking solutions.

He is deeply committed to supporting the veteran community beyond his professional work, actively contributing to local charities, events, and initiatives that support veterans and their families. Kristian believes real impact is made not only through systems, but through presence, connection, and ongoing community engagement.

With a background in electrotechnology and telecommunications, combined with proven leadership and resilience, Kristian remains focused on building a veteran support system that is compassionate, credible, and sustainable, ensuring no veteran is left behind.

Townsville is growing!
We need some exceptional people to grow with us!

AVAC Services is looking for a Medical Evidence Coordinator to join our Townsville team on a part-time basis (36 hours per week), Tuesday - Friday.

At AVAC, we advocate for Australian veterans navigating claims with the Department of Veterans Affairs. The work we do is meaningful, fast-paced, and the person in this role sits at the heart of it.

You will coordinate all medical evidence across our client base, lead a small team of clinically trained staff, and make sure nothing falls through the cracks. You will need to be agile and able to pivot when priorities shift, and bring genuine empathy to every client interaction, because our clients are veterans, and many of them are carrying more than most.

The ideal candidate would come from medical administration, health insurance, workers compensation, a medicolegal environment, or clinical background. They must understand diagnostic requirements and how to lead a team!

If this sounds like you, we would love to hear from you.

Send your resume and a brief cover letter to
