You matter 💜

Just a little reminder.
Your body matters.
Your experience matters.
Your trauma matters.
Your health matters.
You matter.

We see you. We know you're grateful for your baby. But you matter too.

Slide reads: a healthy baby is NOT "all that matters"

Day 2 Schema Therapy Training

Today was all about the “Happy Child” mode and how adults can access fun, play and pleasure states.

Being playful and making time for fun is incredibly important to mental and physical health.

I learnt about the different styles/preferences for fun activities. We practiced strategies to help clients to get back in touch with activities that used to bring fun, or find new ways to create play and fun in their lives.

If your “inner critic” is telling you that you don’t have time for fun, or it is not important - then rest assured that there are strategies to deal with these barriers to fun. Moving you towards a life that is a little more light hearted and playful.

Training with Andrew Phipps - Clinical Psychologist and Schema Therapy Trainer.

I spent the day learning about how to work with anger in client sessions; and the different ways people express anger in their lives.

Most importantly we learnt that anger is a HEALTHY and NORMAL emotion.

It is important to feel anger to have healthy boundaries, keep us safe, and help meet our needs. Anger can feel uncomfortable because it is our body’s way of telling us to take action - to do something about an injustice, a need not met, or a perceived threat.

When we express anger as a healthy adult - we can feel empowered and proud of ourselves. We do this by being assertive, considerate, setting boundaries and being clear about what we need.

Training was with Chris Hepworth
Advanced Schema Therapist and Trainer.

People pleasing, perfectionism and avoidance of conflict are all coping mechanism to avoid feeling uncomfortable emotions.

But feeling uncomfortable emotions is a healthy and normal part of being human.

Wouldn’t it be better to learn how to cope with uncomfortable emotions, rather than going through life trying to be perfect, never upsetting anyone or putting your needs forward?

Time goes so fast! We are nearly at that time where we need to pass on our RSVP’s to the Port Lincoln Hotel. Why not grab your tickets and join us at our fourth annual conference?!

We have another incredible line up of amazing presenters and fun. Come along for the opportunity to connect with others in the wellbeing/su***de prevention space. It can be a tough area to volunteer or work in and we know the importance of connection and learning, side by side!

Each participant will also receive an epic goody bag filled with treats and vouchers. We can't wait to share them with you all!

If you are a part of a wellbeing group or su***de prevention network, take advantage of the free tickets to Day 1, the dinner and Day 2. If you are not affiliated with a group or network, you are still very welcome and can purchase a ticket at the very low price of $30 for Day 1, $30 for the dinner or $15 for Day 2. If the cost is a barrier for you, get in touch with us ❤️

A huge thank you to our sponsors and supporters for making this conference weekend a possibility!

Holiday Closure -

I’ll be closed over the holidays to take some time out with family and friends. I’ll be back in the office from 8th Jan.

Thank you to all my clients for trusting me to be part of your lives in 2023.

Please take it easy over this often overwhelming time of year.

Remember to take a breath, notice what you are feeling and thinking, be kind to yourself; and then go towards your values in any small way you can manage.

I’ll return all calls and message in early 2024.

Conflict is inevitable in relationships. Especially our intimate relationship and when we live with other people; children, house mates, parents.
Watch out for the four horsemen during conflict. Read on to find out more.

All relationships, even the most successful ones, have conflict. It is unavoidable. Fortunately, our research shows that it’s not the appearance of conflict, but rather how it’s managed that predicts the success or failure of a relationship. We say “manage” conflict rather than “resolve,” because relationship conflict is natural and has functional, positive aspects that provide opportunities for growth and understanding.

The first step in effectively managing conflict is to identify and counteract The Four Horsemen when they arrive in your conflict discussions. Thankfully, for every horseman there is an antidote, and you can learn how and when to use them here: https://bit.ly/3oYhyOK
