Matthew Flinders Care Services Matthew Flinders Home Inc. comprises a Residential Care Facility, Day Centre and Home Care Packages was opened in October 1981.

MFH is a community owned Not for Profit business comprising of 4 main departments. A residential care facility, a day center, home care and a second hand shop. Our Vision

To be a leading provider of the highest ethical and professional standards in Aged Care whilst influencing change, and recognising individual needs expectations and rights of Residents and Community Clients. Our Mission

To enhance the quality of life of residents and Community clients through the provision of holistic care and support services, in an atmosphere that maintains dignity and supports individual rights. Our Philosophy

It is the philosophy of care in Matthew Flinders Home that individuals are valued and entitled to live their lives at the highest level of dignity, independence and quality possible. Whilst acknowledging they have a right to make their own choices and decisions regarding their lives and care. Our Goals

DAY CENTRE OUTING

Ahoy there! ⚓️

Day Centre Adventures set sail on the Tacoma Boat on 7th April! The skies were dark, but not a raindrop in sight, and the calm seas made it a perfect day to climb aboard and dive into the Tacoma’s fascinating history.

A big thank you to Ross and Carin for sharing their knowledge and stories about the boat and its past. We even had a crash course in tuna pole fishing — and after plenty of encouragement and practice, Kath and Hayley reeled in a “tuna”! 🎣

Fun was had by all — what a fantastic adventure on the water! 🌊

Day Centre Outing 🚌

On Thursday, 2nd April, just before Easter, our Day Centre crew headed out on a beautiful adventure at Glen Forest! 🐣🌿

There was so much excitement as we fed Skippy, patted the koalas, and wandered through the aviary surrounded by stunning birds. 🦘🦜

We enjoyed a gorgeous BBQ lunch (with a few cheeky peacocks trying to sneak a bite!), and to top off an already perfect day… a little wine tasting! 🍷

A truly special day filled with laughter, nature, and great company — the perfect start to the Easter celebrations 💛

Meet Margaret 💛 Margaret is 74, living independently at home, but like many of us, she’s started to notice that a few everyday tasks aren’t quite as easy as they used to be.

Things like vacuuming, carrying groceries, keeping up with the housework… even cooking meals can start to feel like a bigger job.

Stage 1 of the care journey often begins with small support, helping people stay safe, confident and independent in their own home for longer.

This is the beginning of Margaret’s story… and a great reminder that asking for help doesn’t mean losing independence, it means protecting it.

It’s that time again… ⏰ Daylight saving is coming to an end this Sunday, which means clocks go back one hour and we all get an extra hour of sleep!

While most smart devices will update automatically, it’s a good idea to check things like microwaves, ovens and older phones and help loved ones do the same.

A small change like this can sometimes feel a little confusing, so a quick check-in can go a long way 💛
