Playful Stages Occupational Therapy - Port Macquarie

SOCIAL SKILLS GROUP - Last week NEST Allied Health and Playful Stages OT - Port Macquarie ran a Sensory Based Social Skills Playgroup. We planned an exciting range of activities that matched with the interests of the kids in the group.
On Day 1 we made playdough volcanoes, worked together to carry them to the park and had fun erupting them. On Day 2 we had an epic watergun fight in the park and worked in teams to capture the flag. On Day 3 and 4 we worked in pairs to transform the OT gym into a maze of forts and cubbies, and enjoyed playing spotlight hide and seek.
Over the course of the week all of the kids in the group had loads of fun and learnt social skills such as playing collaboratively, working in teams towards an end goal, making requests and responding to peers, and practice in joining and staying in a group.
We look forward to having all the kids with us again in future groups!

Some new equipment is arriving this weekend in our Port Macquarie clinic! My little helper was unpacking faster than we could pack the trailer - but we got there in the end.

This week was a fun and busy week. We welcomed Rochelle back to our Penrith clinic from Port Macquarie for our school holiday groups! But sadly we had to say goodbye to her today again - until next school holidays 😊We really love having the group programs to bring our OT's all together 😊

We ran 2 Sensory Based Play groups, a craft group, our first ever sports group and our community access group. We learnt lots, overcame many obstacles and had many opportunities to learn and have fun.

Lots of work happened today in our new Occupational Therapy gym and we now have a wonderful play space to start working in next week! Final touches to happen tomorrow.

Introducing Rochelle Passano

Rochelle has worked in Paediatric Occupational Therapy since 2009 and has extensive experience in supporting children and their families to find the best ways to cope with everyday challenges while working on the skills kids need to thrive over the long term. OT can't be successful in isolation and she includes parents, siblings, teachers and other professionals in the therapeutic process whenever possible.Rochelle is experienced in working with children on the Autism Spectrum, with developmental delays and those that have experienced Trauma.

Originally from South Africa, she has worked extensively in clinic, school and home settings since arriving in Australia in 2017.

Welcome to Playful Stages Port Macquarie. Playful Stages (formerly Josey Sharpe OT) is a private paediatric Occupational Therapy practice. We have been operating in Penrith NSW for about 10 years. 2022 is bringing Playful Stages to Port Macquarie. Rochelle Passano (OT) and her family have relocated to Port Macquarie and she is excited to meet you and support your child. We will be working from 38 Clifton Drive, Port Macquarie in Term 3 2022.
