Neuroplasticity refers to the brain and nervous system’s ability to reorganize and rewire themselves based on the conditions we expose them to. This principle is key to recovering from acquired brain injuries, such as surviving a stroke.
Over the last 50 years, doctors and scientists have discovered that the brain is constantly reshaping itself in response to repeated experiences. For example, learning a new skill—whether it’s crocheting or hitting a golf ball—becomes easier with practice. Similarly, after an acquired brain injury, the brain can relearn essential tasks like walking or using a knife and fork.
Warwick has spent many years working with stroke survivors, helping them return to the activities they love or explore new ones. If you or someone you know could use support in this journey, Warwick will be back from leave on February 17th and ready to support your recovery.
