Hello friends, it's me Mel 👋 - allow me RE-introduce myself! The past couple of years forced me to dismantle the ways I looked at the world, injustice, wealth and health disparity, accessibility to health services, and what the words 'health' and 'community' really mean. It was an opportunity for me to re-assess and re-align with my evolving ethics as a practitioner who feels quite determined to break down social barriers to accessing Natural Health - especially for marginalised groups, neurodiverse individuals and those with disabilities.

As natural therapists, we have a way to go in ensuring our clinic-offerings are accessible and equitable across our broader communities. Which is why I now offer 3 ways to access my work / services. (links provided in my BIO)

There's a lot to share about this rather HUGE issue in one post.... but there'll be more to come as I shape the vision for my 'business' social media. Not least to say - I'm here for leadership and re-visioning a way forward. Thanks for being here with me Mel 🙂

Someone asked me 'how to book-in to see me' the other day? In fact, sometimes people ask me if I’m still a Naturopath at all? Understandable really, having closed thehollow_store a couple of years ago and working rather quietly from home.

So please, allow me to clarify, YES I’m still a Naturopath and there are 2 ways to see me:

1) I run an integrative Medicine Clinic at lordstreetpharmacy on Monday, Tuesday & Wednesdays. I’ve kept my fee’s deliberately low ($55 per consult) with the intention to make Naturopathic services more accessible and affordable for everyone. It’s important to me that Natural Medicine remains a viable option for the community as a whole, and not just for those who can afford it. You can pop in to see me, or book in so we can sit down chat about your health issues or concerns.

2) I also have my private clinic where I see patients 1:1 for longer and more personal sessions. This is an option for people who need extra care and attention with their health. It’s also where I offer my modalities such as Breathwork, Somatic Therapy, Counselling, Ceremony and olde Crone Medicine. The cost is higher because the work / therapy is more intimate (and intense).

I feel very fortunate to be in a position where I can continue to evolve as a practitioner. I’m learning a lot being part of a Pharmacist-Naturopath team, while connecting with Doctors and other amazing specialists / therapists in our area too. I’m also retraining in a lot of areas to stay up-to-date in the latest research and developments in the field of Natural Medicine, satisfying the science nerd in me.

I definitely have my professional-feet in 2 very different worlds - perhaps that’s the Gemini in me -

Let's not forget that many factors influence our health, especially in Perimenopause & Menopause - when our body, identity, relationships and roles are changing. I see a lot of women gorging on Social Media content with an insatiable appetite to "fix their symptoms” hoping that maybe the latest treadmill, weight vest, oestrogen or testosterone gel, magnesium supplement, low carb diet, intermittent fasting or ice plunge will make it right? But we must remember that many factors influence 'influencer lifestyles' too, and that your body, life experiences, health history and home life is unique to you.

Statistics like these are mirrored all over the globe. Women are not okay and we deserve an individual & compassionate therapeutic approach to this chapter in our lives.

The festive season can really challenge our routines and habits around food, alcohol and exercise. Eating and drinking too much, or not having the time and energy to exercise can leave us feeling sluggish, blocked up and bloated. Extra stress at work and the over-stretch of family obligations can be an assault on the emotional ‘baggage’ we hold in the bowel too.

Needless to say, it can be useful to keep a supplement that safely and naturally stimulates the bowel handy.
