“My swing’s off… maybe I need new clubs?” 🤔⛳

• Buying new gear won’t fix poor movement patterns.
• Power and consistency come from hips, thoracic spine, core, and glutes, not the shaft.
• Weakness or stiffness in key areas = swing inefficiency, no matter the club.
• Correcting movement and building strength = more distance, control, and injury prevention.
• Invest in your body first, equipment second.

Your swing follows your body, not your clubs.

Things I’d say as a physio if I wasn’t worried about hurting your feelings 👇

• Pain does not equal damage. If it did, scans would predict pain perfectly. They don’t. Your nervous system plays a bigger role than you think.

• Rest is not rehab. If avoiding movement actually fixed injuries, you’d be better by now. Load is medicine when dosed properly.

• Your MRI didn’t “ruin” your body. Disc bulges, degenerative change, and meniscal signals are common in people with zero pain. Imaging is context, not a verdict.

• Stretching isn’t fixing your problem. If strength, capacity, and movement tolerance are lacking, pulling harder on tissue won’t save you.

• Flare-ups don’t mean failure. They reflect a sensitised system or a load mismatch, not that you’ve gone backwards or “re-injured” yourself.

• Rehab only works if you actually do it. Consistency beats perfect exercise selection every time.

If this hit a nerve, good. That’s usually where change starts.
