Often in yoga as we gently open the side body I pass on a yoga teaching that we are “creating space for joy” - gently expanding the Anaharta chakra — and this week, in my own practice, I really felt it. 🥹
A little boy currently staying at the refuge where I work gifted me a handmade card, carefully writing a Spanish saying on the front that means “Happy Holiday.” Such a beautiful gesture, and it lit up my whole heart. It reminded me that joy often arrives in the simplest, most unexpected ways.
I see it, too, in the spring flower garden that my neighbour and I share. The beauty of the blossoms, and the spontaneous moment of connection we shared there this week, brought me the same warmth.
I noticed it in the laugh of a kookaburra, the scent of jasmine on the breeze, and the genuine love and connection I feel from this community and connection with students in class.
These little moments of joy really do carry us forward. We all suffer in our own ways, and yet joy keeps finding us.
As I prepare to travel to Spain with my daughter Miah, I carry these reminders close and look forward to sharing glimpses of joy along the journey ahead.
My own moments feel lighter and brighter as I lean into these gifts. The acceptance and resilience I’m finding within are a soothing balm to the heartbreak and devastation of this past week. And through it all, yoga has been my anchor — supporting me, holding me as I support and hold my daughter, my family, this community and the beautiful women and children I support experiencing Domestic and Family Violence.
All reminding me how blessed I am to share this yoga path with others. 🙏💛
May you, too, notice the sparks of beauty, love and JOY around you, and may they bring light, resilience, and gentleness to your own path. 🌸
