The biggest thank you to whoever put the sand bags in front of our Port Macquarie Clinic in Short Street. I assume it was the amazing volunteers at NSW SES Port Macquarie Unit so please know that we are incredibly grateful for your fearless service to this fantastic city!!!

The Hearing Shop was blessed enough to stay high and dry and we are planning on reopening Monday the 26th of May.

Unfortunately many businesses in Short Street were not so fortunate, so please offer your help and support them with your business when they reopen.

Tip #7 - Hearing aids can help maintain your residual hearing.

Our last tip for the last day of hearing awareness week!!

Your auditory system thrives on stimulation. Over stimulating it, like exposing it to loud noise, can cause permanent damage to it. Under stimulating it can also lead to a decline in your hearing levels, and the most common method of under stimulation is by having a hearing loss and not doing anything about it.

We call this Auditory Deprivation. I liken the auditory system to muscles. Your muscles need stimulation otherwise they will wither away. Likewise with your auditory system, if you don't use it, you can lose it. For those with a hearing loss, regular use of hearing aids reduce the risk of further unnecessary decline in your hearing levels. Doing something about it is easy!!!
