If your job allows you to pick up your kids from school — never take it for granted.
That moment when they come running, faces lighting up the second they spot you — that’s everything.
The joy in their eyes, the stories that spill out before they even buckle their seatbelt, the “guess what happened today, Mom/Dad!” moments… that’s the real reward.
Some parents wish they could be there but can’t.
Some sit in traffic, stuck at work, watching the clock tick past pickup time, their hearts aching because they missed it again.
And some kids wait, watching every car that passes, hoping this one will finally be their parent coming through.
If your schedule allows you to be there — show up.
Be early sometimes. Wait outside the gate. Wave when they spot you.
Let them see that their parent came for them.
Because one day, they won’t be running out of those gates.
They’ll be grown, walking their own paths, no longer scanning the crowd for you
and you’ll miss the sound of their backpack zippers, their sweaty hugs, and their endless chatter about the smallest things.
So if your job lets you pick them up… cherish it.
Those few minutes after school might not seem like much now —
but to your child, it means:
💛 “I matter.”
💛 “You’re here.”
💛 “I’m safe.”
You can make a lifetime memory every single afternoon.
