Yorke and Northern Local Health Network (YNLHN) has zero tolerance for violence and aggression.

We are committed to providing a safe environment for staff, patients, and visitors at all our sites.

Following several incidents at Port Pirie and Wallaroo Hospitals, YNLHN convened an all-staff forum and established a Security Working Group to track ongoing incidents while providing a listening post for staff concerns.

After this extensive consultation with staff, the community and site visits to hospitals in Whyalla and Port Lincoln, the YNLHN Governing Board has resolved to engage 24/7 security staff at the Port Pirie and Wallaroo Hospitals.

YNLHN is now working to implement this resolution and security guards will be on-site as soon as possible.

Security guards will initially be put in place for six-months, during which time the Security Working Group will be expanded to include Union representation and work will be undertaken to develop an ongoing orderly/security model to be implemented long term.
