Spring flowers from my garden. It was chilly this morning and the forecast for tomorrow is pretty wild, so I thought I’d pick these gorgeous old fashioned roses before the wind made a mess of them.

But Spring is finally here - and I can feel more spring in my step. It’s easier to get outside for a walk, tidy up the garden or a bike ride.

Week 1 of FIRE 🔥 (focussed intense resistance training). ✅

The first 2 weeks of the program are called acclimation sets - light weights are used to help perfect technique, work around injuries, figure out any imbalances with bodies and most importantly learn how to FEEL the weights and how the muscles respond. I am instructing how to acclimatise your body and get it prepared for conditioning.

ATTENTION 📣 PERI-MENOPAUSAL & MENOPAUSAL WOMEN!!

Our number one problem…....

We don’t have enough muscle 💪

Most of the frustrations women in their 40s and 50s have with weight, body composition, metabolism and energy trace back to this number one thing.

Muscle isn’t just about looking like you train though let’s be honest, that’s a really great part of it.

Muscle is your metabolic engine.
No, each kilogram of muscle doesn’t magically burn 50 calories a day like the internet myths suggest but it does burn more and more importantly, it makes you more insulin sensitive, lets you handle carbs better and keeps your resting metabolism higher than if you’d lost it.

The bigger issue is that every decade after 30, you naturally lose muscle if you’re not training to keep or build it. Add years of on-and-off dieting and chronic calorie restriction on top and most midlife women end up severely under-muscled.

Less muscle = slower recovery, slower metabolism, lower strength, poorer glucose control and faster fat regain after every diet.

And the kicker is the very thing you need most as you get older is the thing most women have the least of - MUSCLE.

The fix is never more cardio. It’s strength training built around progression and recovery.

This is where I can help!

The beauty of strength training is it can be tailored to suit any level, any age and work around injuries.

Here’s me on my new e-bike - looking after an injured hip. I’m still weight training my upper body each week while working on mobility and movement for my lower body until pain is less.

Term 4 FIRE 🔥 TRAINING starts 6th October for 10 weeks.

Only 2 spots left at 7.30am on Tuesday and Thursday.
