With our final week of FIRE 🔥 TRAINING for Term 1 coming to a close, there are some big weights being lifted. The past 8 weeks have been a progression to achieve the pinnacle this week.

The posture was mastered; the range of movement was impressive; we made improvements along the way; we measured progress and evaluated by adding extra weight - all without compromising technique.

Ps. it’s not compulsory to wear black but it’s clearly a favourite.

Term 2 starts Monday 20th April. Limited places available. Apply within 😜.

Are you a hugger?? I love a good hug.

The Power of Hugs

February invites us to pause and honour the heart - not just the physical one that keeps us alive, but also the emotional one that keeps us connected. Love - and hugs - nourish the emotional heart which in turn supports the physical heart.

Why hugs matter:
• Release oxytocin, helping us feel calm, loved, and connected
• Reduce stress, anxiety, and loneliness
• Strengthen relationships and trust

Brain & cognitive benefits:
• Lower stress hormones that affect memory
• Promote emotional regulation and focus
• Especially meaningful for people with dementia when words are difficult

Physical health benefits:
• Can lower blood pressure and heart rate
• Support immune health
• Reduce pain and muscle tension

As we age:
• Many older adults experience touch deprivation
• Hugs improve mood, sleep, and overall well-being
• Gentle hugs, hand-holding, or shoulder squeezes all count

How many hugs do we need?
• 4 hugs a day for survival
• 8 hugs a day for maintenance
• 12 hugs a day for growth

Boxing 🥊 starts back Tuesday 3rd February at 6.30 pm. All abilities welcome $10.
