🎉Welcome to part 2 of the top 5 food and beverage trends for 2025 I am sharing to help inspire your small food or beverage business. Keep swiping to have a look and also understand my professional food tech thoughts about each of the trends.

Trend 3: ‘It’s Getting Personal’ - Personalised health and nutrition is HUGE! 🥑 With GLP-1 drugs and food tracking apps on the rise, consumers are demanding so much more from their food. Think targeted benefits, clear labelling, and convenient formats.

🌍Trend 4: ‘Alternative Origins’ - Supply chain woes?Food brands are getting creative! Think new ingredients, exciting flavours, and transparent communication.

Trend 5: ‘Crazy Food That Slays’- Expect the unexpected.🤪 It’s an era to feel safe to embrace crazier flavour combos and rule-breaking food mashups.

😃If you found this inspirational, share it around.

Food entrepreneurs! Get ready to level up your game in 2025. I’ve analysed the top food and beverage trends, and distilled them into actionable insights to help your food business.

🌏Trend 1 is Carbon Clarity - “nutrition” labelling for the planet: consumers are increasingly demanding more transparency and authenticity in communicating a brand’s action on climate change. Out with greenwashing claims and in with measurable figures on a product’s climate impact.

🌱Trend 2 is Plant-based but make it more natural: we are seeing a shift in consumer appetite away from ultra-processed meat alternatives, and instead they’re embracing meat alternatives that are healthier, more “real” with their ingredient lists, and come across as less processed.

💚Stick around and hit follow for trend 3-5.

😮Woah. What a year it’s been. So much has happened, and there’s so much we are grateful for too. Been off this account for a while, but we are back and ready to smash 2025.

☺️Now I just wanted to take this opportunity on NYE to look back at some of the wins for 2024 for our food and beverage clients. Let’s go:

🌿Our clients stood out from the crowd after we helped them make legit and appealing pack claims that spoke to their target customers, unlike a number of their competitors (who were being sneaky and using non-compliant claims)

🌿 Our clients were able to boost consumer confidence after we helped make their ingredient lists clearer, all whilst still protecting their precious recipe IP and adhering to the labelling legislation

🌿 We made their products last longer by validating effective changes to their production processes

🌿 We saved our clients a lot of money, even though some of the ingredients they needed almost tripled in price in 2024. We worked closely with our supplier network, prioritised quality, and with a bit of negotiation and empowering suppliers to feel integral to the client journey, we kicked the goals we needed to hit

🌿We pushed the boundaries with product formulations, and never stayed too comfortable whilst working within the confines of the regulatory framework

🥂A big cheers to helping clients slay their respective product categories, and let’s all get ready to take on even bigger challenges in 2025.

Happy new year everyone!

Truly excited to reveal this little creation I’ve worked on with the great team has finally landed on the shelves of Ampol Foodary stores (135 of them), and .supermarket.

It’s not often that I get to share something like this that I’m so passionate about, but this one had to be it as I’ve personally felt so frustrated every week when I’m on the road and have no time for a balanced lunch only to settle for Kombucha or sparkling water with a piece of fruit from the petrol station.

Some highlights from the recent Alternative Proteins Global Networking event held at the hub in Sydney’s CBD.

It’s always a real joy to connect with likeminded people in the plant based food niche, and celebrate their wins.

Congrats for a successful launch with your absolutely stunning Fresh Mozzarella in Brine, I’m already seeing so many amazing creations posted on various Facebook groups every few days which features your product. All the best!

😅Been on a bit of a hiatus from this account but I’m back with 2nd part of my 10 Reasons to 💚 Food Processing, and I’m just so grateful how it has helped shap the food industry to how it is today as we know it, and for so many worthy reasons. 🌱Some of them that are in this carousel include:🥛creating allergen free alternatives, 🌾adding value to agrifood waste, 🐷helping end commercial animal farming, 🍏maintaining nutritional quality and freshness, and🥫providing safe, convenient, accessible formats.
😊Hope you all enjoy the read, and please save or share the post if you loved it.

👨🏻‍💻🧫As a food technologist, it breaks my heart to see the fear and confusion spread by misinformation on food processing.

👍I know that together, we can rise above it and appreciate the incredible benefits that food production brings to our lives.

🧁Sure, some ultra-processed foods might not be the best for our health, but that doesn't mean we can't enjoy them as special treats in moderation.

🙌 Let's start the new year by embracing the positive side of food processing, and not be swayed by negative misconceptions.

😃 I often get asked by many small business owners the above question, and it’s actually quite straight forward to answer luckily.

💪”Source of Protein”: you need a min. of 5g/serve.

💪💪🏽”Good Source of Protein”: you need a min. of 10g/serve.

You can also use descriptors of equal meaning like “High in Natural Protein”.

Some businesses just state the grams of protein each serve has, and there are no issues with that providing it is at least 5g/serve.

🌱In product development, not all allergens are as obvious as those added in as individual ingredients that form part of a product recipe, or sometimes the ingredient name might not even immediately strike you to contain an allergen like gluten (such as in the case of oats).

🕵🏼‍♀️It’s not uncommon that hidden allergens require more time and effort to truly uncover (particularly if you’re new to food business). However, you must consider all top 10 allergens when assembling an ingredients list, subsequent summary statement / “contains” statement for allergens and precautionary allergen statement (voluntary; though becoming increasingly used in industry).
