Frozen eggs can be safely stored for many years — and in practice, this can mean well over a decade or more. With modern vitrification (rapid freezing), eggs are preserved in a stable state where biological activity essentially stops, so time itself does not reduce their quality.

What matters most is the age at which the eggs were frozen, not how long they’ve been stored. Eggs frozen at a younger age generally have a higher potential for future use.

There have been successful pregnancies from eggs stored for many years, which is reassuring for those considering fertility preservation.

If you’re considering egg freezing, it’s always best to have a personalised discussion to understand what this looks like for you.

Fertility treatment is not just a physical process — it’s an emotional journey for both partners.

For women, the highs and lows can be intense. Hormonal changes from treatment can affect mood, energy, and overall wellbeing in ways that are often hard to predict or control. It can feel overwhelming at times, and that’s completely valid.

For partners, especially men, it can bring a different kind of challenge — feeling unsure, or even helpless, about how best to support the person you care about. You’re part of this journey too, even if it doesn’t always feel that way.

The most important thing? Kindness, patience, and support.
Showing up, listening, and simply being there for one another can make all the difference.

You’re in this together. 🤍

There’s a common misconception that infertility is mostly related to women. In reality, male factor infertility contributes to around 40% of cases.

Fertility is a shared journey — it takes both partners to create a baby. That’s why we encourage couples to attend their first appointment together. Assessing both partners early helps us understand the full picture and guide you towards the most appropriate next steps.

If you’re trying to conceive or have concerns about fertility, don’t wait. Book a consultation with our team today — we offer both in-person and Telehealth appointments, and we welcome couples to attend together so we can support you from the very beginning 👶

Fertility treatment timelines vary for everyone, but here’s a simple guide to what it may look like:

Initial consultation & testing – 2–4 weeks
We review your history and organise any blood tests, scans, or investigations.
Cycle monitoring or ovulation induction – 1–3 months
Some patients conceive during this stage with guided timing and support.
IUI treatment (if recommended) – Usually 1 cycle per attempt
Each cycle takes around 4 weeks.
IVF treatment (if recommended) – Around 4–8 weeks per cycle
This includes stimulation, egg collection, fertilisation, and embryo transfer.

Every journey is different — some people move quickly, while others take a staged approach depending on their goals and results.

The best way to understand your timeline is with a personalised plan.

Twins can form in different ways, and understanding the difference helps explain how they occur naturally and during IVF.

Identical twins begin from a single fertilised egg that later divides into two embryos. Because they originate from the same embryo, they share the same genetic material and are typically the same s*x.

Fraternal twins develop when two separate eggs are fertilised in the same cycle. These embryos grow independently, meaning the babies are genetically similar to siblings and may be the same or different s*xes.

Fraternal twins are more common than identical twins in natural pregnancies.

In IVF, twins can occur in a couple of ways. Fraternal twins may happen if more than one embryo is transferred. Identical twins can still occur when a single transferred embryo divides after implantation.

While twin pregnancies can happen both naturally and with IVF, fertility treatment is carefully planned with your specialist based on your individual circumstances.

For some people with PCOS, even small lifestyle changes can make a meaningful difference.

Research shows that in individuals carrying excess weight (for example, BMI over 30–35), losing around 5% of body weight may help restore ovulation and improve the chances of pregnancy and live birth.

This doesn’t apply to everyone with PCOS, but for those where weight is a contributing factor, focusing on sustainable changes — such as balanced nutrition, regular movement, and overall wellbeing — can support hormone regulation and cycle consistency.

In some cases, these changes may even help people conceive naturally, without needing fertility treatment like IVF. Every journey is different, which is why personalised guidance is so important when managing PCOS and planning for pregnancy.

Egg freezing allows you to preserve eggs at the age they are collected — which is why some people choose to explore this option earlier, even if pregnancy isn’t part of their immediate plans.

People may consider egg freezing for many reasons, including:
• Wanting more time before starting a family
• Focusing on career, study, or personal goals
• Not having the right partner yet
• Medical conditions that may impact fertility
• Upcoming treatments that could affect ovarian reserve
• Family history of early menopause
• Simply wanting to keep future options open

Because egg quality is closely linked to age, freezing earlier can sometimes provide more flexibility down the track. That said, fertility preservation is a personal decision — and understanding your individual circumstances is key.

Learning about your options doesn’t mean committing to treatment. It’s simply about having the information to plan ahead with confidence.
