The best you can ever give yourself and your loved ones this Christmas season is good health!
Use these top tips to start the new year feeling your best.
1. Brighten up your plate.
Everybody enjoys treating themselves over the holiday season. However, you can still enjoy your favourite holiday foods if you eat a lot of fruit, vegetables, and salads. On your dish, try to include as many green, leafy vegetables as you can, along with any roast turkey or glazed Christmas ham, if you want. Aim to have vegetables and salads on at least half of your plate. As a result, you'll feel better.
2. Substitute a mocktail for the cocktail.
Imagine feeling energised and awake on Christmas or New Year's Day rather than sluggish and hungover! If you decide to drink alcohol, limit yourself to no more than four normal drinks in a session and start the celebration with some fresh and fruity mocktails.
3. Avoid the sales pitch.
With the rise of unhealthy items and marketing strategies that convince us that we must have them in order for our holiday season to be complete, food and beverage corporations make it more difficult for us to maintain a healthy lifestyle around Christmas. During this time of year, unhealthy things like chocolate, soft drinks, and alcohol are sometimes marked down significantly, making it simple to purchase and consume more than you need. Think twice before purchasing that second case of wine or box of chocolates and ask yourself if you actually need it or are simply getting it because it's on sale.
4. Get a good night's rest.
The majority of us don't get enough sleep, despite the fact that it's crucial for both our physical and mental wellbeing. So this holiday season, getting more zzzs is a top objective. Do you recall when you were a child and your bedtime was set every night? A wonderful first step to better sleep is to establish a consistent bedtime routine. Additionally, turn off all electronics an hour before night for a more comfortable sleep.
5. Speak up.
Not everyone has the good fortune to get assistance over the holiday season. Reach out to someone you know is struggling if you know they need it. Invite them to your home for the holiday. Make sure they are ok by keeping an eye on them. And if you're by yourself, contact a nearby charity and give this Christmas to a less fortunate person. Giving to someone else helps you to escape your own thoughts while also making you feel wonderful.
Win, win!
