What’s the difference between clinical exercise/pilates and reformer pilates?
Clinical exercise classes are led by physiotherapists and tailored to your goals, whether that’s recovery, improving strength, or managing pain. These sessions use the reformer along with other pilates apparatus and fitness equipment to create a program that supports your body’s specific needs. Private health benefits are available depending on your policy, and Medicare rebates are available for 1:1 sessions with a valid GP care plan.
Reformer pilates focuses on strength, control, and flexibility in a dynamic group setting. As it’s not classified as a clinical service, reformer pilates is not covered under private health insurance or Medicare. Both build stability and confidence in movement, but clinical exercise is more therapeutic while reformer pilates is more fitness-focused.
