Important Notice:

From the 08/01/2024 our GPs at Edge Medical Centre Prospect will be offering “BULK BILLING phone or video consultations”, EXCLUSIVELY TO MY MEDICARE PATIENTS. If you are not a MyMedicare patient, ONLY “ STANDARD billed phone/video consultations” will be available, after 08/01/2024 at Edge Medical Centre Prospect.

Why do I need to register for MyMedicare?

MyMedicare allows our GPs to Provide unlimited service on phone and video consultations. Also, it will allow your GP to provide comprehensive GP services as your regular clinic ( for example, chronic disease management plan etc ).

How to register for My Medicare

Option 1: Please speak to our Reception staff on how to register manually. Please fill in the form provided and our staff will take care of the rest.
Option 2: Download MyGov App→ then, Find “MyMedicare” → then, find “Edge Medical Centre Prospect” and follow the prompt! You are all set!

Myths about MyMedicare
1. It is not true that you cannot visit other Medical Centres once you register with MyMedicare. You will still have the freedom of choice to visit any medical centres in Australia. Other doctors will be able to bulk-bill as usual as per their policy.
2. It is not true that your privacy is at risk with MyMedicare. MyMedicare system is developed by the government bearing in mind the risk of cybercrime. If you register yourself via Medicare App, it is already a highly secured App. If you register yourself via paperwork at the clinic, we use the RACGP standard (Accredited) computerised and monitoring system and highly secured medical software to store all your information. So, your information is saved securely and we take seriously the safety of all our patient’s information.
3. It is not true that you can’t change your GP or your regular Medical Centre. At any time, you can go back to your Medicare App ( then go to MyMedicare) then you can change your preferred GP or clinic at any time. It is all in your hands. No one can control it but you.

The flu season has begun! 🤧
Don’t forget to book your flu shots today!

Flu season has begun 🤧

Latest data indicates influenza (‘flu’) is on the rise so there’s no better time to book in your flu shot. It will give you the best possible protection from severe illness from flu.

Everyone from six months and older is recommended to get a flu shot. The flu vaccine is readily available for any age group through GPs as well as through pharmacies for everyone aged five years and older.

Priority groups who can get a free* flu vaccine include:
• Children aged six months to under five years
• People aged 65 and over
• Aboriginal people from six months of age
• Pregnant women
• Those with serious health conditions such as diabetes, cancer, immune disorders, obesity, severe asthma, kidney, heart, lung or liver disease.

*Some providers may charge an administration or consultation fee. Ask your doctor or pharmacist if this applies to you.

Flu and COVID-19 vaccines can be given at the same time. All adults can get a 2023 COVID-19 vaccine booster if it’s been six months or longer since their last COVID-19 booster or confirmed infection (whichever is most recent) for additional protection against severe illness from COVID-19.
