That’s a wrap on our literacy skills group Oct 2022! Our students worked on letter identification, decoding , phonemic awareness, reading, writing, reading comprehension!! Our groups are run by our speech and occupational therapists to provide a multi sensory and effective learning environment. We look forward for our next literacy groups.

Our literacy groups for the school holidays were great!! The groups ran for 3 days. For our under 6s, we worked on letters and numbers identification and writing, CVC reading and writing, motor control activities using pencils and small items. Our above 6 group worked on bossy/magic e words, words with blends and words with different vowel teams (e.g. ee, ea, ow, ai, ay) as well as motor control activities such as tracing and moving small items and copying patterns. Both groups worked on differentiating between b and d and p and q. We look forward to continue our literacy groups in the next school holidays!!!

We ran social and literacy groups for our clients during the school holidays. For the social group we targeted: listening and speaking, taking turns and social rules. For the literacy group we targeted: rhyming, letters, syllables as well as fine motor skills such as cutting and tracing. Our groups were ran by our speech pathologist Sally and occupational therapist Stephanie. We look forward to the next school holidays to continue these groups!

Our literacy holiday program has come to an end this week but we look forward to future Social and Literacy holiday programs in the next school holidays! The pictures show the following: making silly soup by choosing pictures by initial sound, finding letters using our “telescope”, saying words slowly using the lazy turtle and learning sight words!

Today is day 1/3 for our Literacy Skills Holiday Program for under 6s. Our group focused on building fundamental reading skills such as identifying sounds, rhyming, and learning sight words and letters through a variety of sensory, fun and interactive games and activities! We are so excited to continue our program this week. The children had so much fun and so did we!
