Inflammation is the body’s natural response to injury or infection, aimed at protecting the body and initiating the healing process. It involves the immune system’s activation to eliminate harmful stimuli, such as pathogens, damaged cells, or irritants, and to start tissue repair.

Signs:
Redness: Increased blood flow to the affected area causes visible redness.
Heat:The affected area may feel warm due to the increased blood flow and metabolic activity.
Swelling: Fluid and immune cells accumulate in the tissue, causing swelling.
Pain: The release of chemicals such as prostaglandins and bradykinin sensitizes nerves, leading to pain.
Loss of function: The affected area may have reduced function due to swelling and pain.

These signs are indicative of the body’s efforts to fight off an infection or repair damaged tissue.

Fasting has been shown to improve inflammation in several ways:

1. Reduction in Pro-inflammatory Cytokines: Fasting can lower the levels of pro-inflammatory cytokines, such as IL-6 and TNF-α, which are molecules involved in promoting inflammation.
2. Enhanced Autophagy: Fasting stimulates autophagy, a process where cells remove damaged components, reducing inflammation and promoting cellular health.
3. Improved Insulin Sensitivity: Fasting can improve insulin sensitivity, which reduces insulin resistance—a condition associated with chronic inflammation.
4. Decrease in Oxidative Stress: Fasting reduces oxidative stress by decreasing the production of reactive oxygen species (ROS), which can cause cellular damage and trigger inflammatory responses.
5. Gut Microbiome Modulation: Fasting can positively affect the gut microbiome, leading to a reduction in gut-derived inflammation. A healthy gut microbiome supports the integrity of the gut barrier and reduces the translocation of endotoxins that can trigger systemic inflammation.
6. Increase in Anti-inflammatory Compounds: Fasting can increase the production of anti-inflammatory compounds like adiponectin, which helps regulate glucose levels and fatty acid breakdown.

Overall, these mechanisms contribute to a reduction in chronic inflammation and promote overall health...

Fasting lifestyle: When you’re not seeing weight loss results, it might be because significant changes are happening at a cellular level that aren’t immediately visible on the scale.

The cellular and metabolic adaptations are crucial for long-term health and can lead to more visible weight loss results over time.

Patience and consistency are key, as the scale might not reflect these positive changes immediately.

Metabolic health seems to be a bit of a buzz word atm… so what exactly is metabolic health??

Metabolic health is all about how well your body generates and uses energy from the food you eat, and how well your body can access stored energy when having a break from food (or fasting). Metabolic switching is the ease with which your body can switch energy sources. A few relevant points:

Blood Sugar Levels - Healthy metabolic function keeps your blood sugar within a normal range, reducing the risk of insulin resistance and diabetes. Stable blood sugar levels mean steady energy throughout the day.

Cholesterol Levels - Cholesterol is a type of fat in your blood. Good metabolic health involves having higher levels of HDL (good cholesterol) and lower levels of LDL (bad cholesterol), which supports heart health and reduces the risk of cardiovascular disease.

Blood Pressure - Your blood pressure measures the force of blood against your artery walls. Healthy metabolic function helps maintain normal blood pressure, which is vital for heart and artery health.

Waist Circumference - Carrying excess fat, especially around the waist, can be a sign of metabolic dysfunction. A healthy waist size indicates lower visceral fat (fat around organs), reducing the risk of metabolic syndrome and related diseases.

Triglycerides - These are fats found in your blood. Low levels of triglycerides are associated with a lower risk of heart disease. Good metabolic health helps keep these fats in check.

Metabolic Switching - This is the body’s ability to switch between burning carbohydrates and fats for energy. Efficient metabolic switching improves energy use, supports weight management, and enhances overall metabolic health. Fasting, intermittent fasting, and exercise can help promote metabolic switching.

Simple green protein soup 💚💚 save this recipe:
One large head of broccoli chopped
Two leaks chopped
Three large handfuls of fresh spinach.
Three large celery stalks
One onion
Four cloves garlic

Chop all of this up and sauté it for about five minutes then add 2 cups of chicken broth.

The broth can be home-made or you can cheat and use an organic store bought broth.

At the end add in one can of organic butter beans.

Simmer for about 20 minutes then transfer to a blender and blend until smooth consistency!

Great for when you want to lighten the load on your digestive system while still having lots of nutrients 💚💚
