In between all the mom life, traveling, moving, life stuff, it has been a while since we talked Speech Pathology! So I figured it was time for a career update.
Many of you started following this account when it started in early 2021 as Speech4parents. It was an account all about my Speech Therapy private practice. The purpose of the account was to create a community where parents could come to learn and ask questions about anything Speech related. Speech4parents grew very quickly, amounting to a full time schedule of parent consultations and individual speech therapy sessions for myself, 3 part time SLPs, and a few per diem SLPs. During this time, Speech4parents was also hired to provide supervision and AAC consultations at a private school, which in the end, turned out to be by far my favorite part of every week. My love for supervising and educating professionals in my field grew to become much more of a passion than continuing to grow my practice.
And so, as I do, I chose to follow my passions and see where it took me. And that is exactly where my next step in my career is leading me- a department supervisor team leader in Australia!
I am so excited to continue my journey as a Speech Pathologist in a new country, a career that I love and has been a passion of mine for so many years. They say that when you do what you love, you never work a day in your life. I am blessed to have a career that is equally a passion of mine, and not just work. And I am excited to continuously share Speech Therapy with all of you through this platform.
Many have said that I make Speech Therapy relatable, less like a burden or something to be embarrassed or ashamed of, and much more common and “normal”. And honestly those have been the very best compliments. My goal has always been to foster a community, to make Speech Therapy relatable to others. I am happiest when I am helping others come together and feel connected. And if I can do that by sharing my passions, then that is a life well lived 🙏🏼✌🏻
