Easter long weekend is approaching, and while it offers a chance for many to regroup and recharge, it can be very challenging for others. If you anticipate difficulties during these holidays, here are some ways you can prepare:
Acknowledge Feelings: Embrace any emotions you're experiencing, whether it's sadness or stress, without guilt. It is okay to find the holidays challenging.
Set Boundaries: Don't feel pressured to participate in activities or traditions that don’t bring you joy or add to your stress.
Seek & Pre-plan Your Support: Reach out to understanding friends, family, or professionals for support. Ensure you have your support system well-planned ahead of time, both before and after the holidays, depending on what benefits you.
Practice Self-Care: Make time for activities that relax and rejuvenate you. Your cup needs to be full before you can fill anyone else's.
Limit Social Media: Reduce exposure to idealized holiday portrayals on social media. While many posts may highlight the beautiful side of the holidays, it's important to remember that there are other perspectives. If viewing these moments is difficult for you, consider reducing your exposure to social media during this period.
