TW: miscarriage, pregnancy loss

How do we talk about miscarriage? How do we support those going through early pregnancy loss? What information is available, and what is desperately lacking?

Author Isabelle Oderberg points out that in Australia, we don't even have data on early pregnancy loss.

An insightful examination of the ways in which we can do so much better to support those affected by miscarriage.

With Oderberg's very own experiences interwoven throughout - the raw and intense emotions, the palpable desire, the warping of time, and just how immensely sh*t things can be while holding hope.

For anyone who has been touched by miscarriage, supported a loved one, healthcare professionals, researchers, and policy makers.

Marvel at care work.

I dont need to tell you that sooo much goes on behind the scenes of caring for little people. You know it. A great deal of Mother work is invisible.

So much decision making, planning and doing, all while holding your baby/child in mind - their physical, social and emotional needs. The oh-so-many moment to moment interactions with them that build your relationship together. Noticing. Discovering new things about them. Remembering what they like, and don't like.

So much thinking. So much doing. So much feeling.

So when it's been a day...

Marvel at YOUR Mother work.

Automatic Drawing by to open our new Maternal Journal online group today.

Expectant people and mothers are often carrying so much emotionally. This is such a great way to check-in and notice: how are you really feeling? Meeting your emotions with openness and curiosity.

So grateful for the global community movement and for all the m/others who come along, share and hold space for one another.

💫BOOK NOW before EARLY BIRD ends

Come as you are, however the day finds you, from the comfort and ease of home. Fill your cup, and enjoy grown up conversation.

We meet for 5 group sessions in a welcoming and non-judgmental space, with prompts and creative exercises to guide your journaling.

You’ll have a chance to reflect on your journey through pregnancy and motherhood and share (if you feel comfortable).

When it comes to perinatal mental health, definitions of the 'perinatal period' can vary in the length of time recognised.

The .org.au guidelines use the following timeframe:

"the emotional and psychological well-being of individuals during pregnancy and the first year after childbirth."

Perinatal mental health includes a range of conditions, including depression, anxiety, and stress, that can affect parents during this period.

Addressing perinatal mental health is crucial for the well-being of both you as the parent and your baby, as it can impact bonding, parenting, and overall family health.

Infant mental health focuses on the social and emotional development of babies from birth to three years old.

It involves understanding how infants experience, express, and regulate their emotions, form close and secure relationships, and explore their environment. Healthy infant mental health is crucial for lifelong development and well-being.

Perinatal and infant mental health are deeply interconnected. When we can hold both perinatal AND infant mental health in mind, we take a holistic approach to supporting the entire family.

🥳 ENROLMENTS NOW OPEN!!

You want to reflect on and talk about how m/otherhood has been and how it is going for you.

The surprises, the challenges, the joys, the nuances.

And you want to hear how others are finding m/otherhood too.

Presenting...

The MATERNAL JOURNAL online series:

💚 Who is this for? You might be pregnant or expecting, you might have a baby or a toddler, preschooler, school children or any combination.

👶 Sessions are baby and child friendly or you may come child-free, whatever works for you and your day!

💻 We meet for 6 one-hour sessions online.

✍️ We check-in, share anything we've been reading/listening to/watching. Then I guide you step by step through a short creative journaling activity. We finish with an opportunity to share and hear each person's reflections.

➕ And we have a private Facebook group to stay connected between sessions.

This is a safe and supportive small group experience led by me, Lauren Beatty, psychologist and mother of two.

Doors close in 4 days!
