The APS has been asked for expert input into the draft updated Clinical Practice Guidelines for the Management of Overweight and Obesity for Adults, Adolescents and Children in Australia, led by Deakin University.

Following public consultation and NHMRC peer review, there have been substantial revisions to the Guidelines. These have also been shaped by further clarification from NHMRC regarding the process of moving from evidence to recommendations, including greater flexibility in recommendation terminology.

Call for Expression of Interest:

APS - Professional Practice Working Group

The APS is seeking expressions of interest from members to join the APS - Professional Practice Working Group.

Chaired by our APS expert Fellow Emeritus Professor Justin Kenardy, the working group will meet bimonthly (and undertake follow up tasks by email) to assist the APS to review and develop resources for members in response to the upcoming PsyBA Code of Conduct. This will include utilising expert knowledge and experience to assess and contribute to resources required to support psychological practice in line with the Code of Conduct.

We are seeking input and advice from members with expertise and experience working in a broad range of areas, including those who have insights into core areas of practice covered by the current APS Ethical Guidelines such as managing risk, navigating assessment, treatment, and legal issues, and working with clients from diverse backgrounds.

Please submit a half page CV and one paragraph outlining your expertise to professionalresources@psychology.org.au with the subject line ‘Code of Conduct Working Group‘

✨ UPCOMING AGM ✨

The AGM for the Counselling College will be held online on Thurs 21st November at 8.30pm (AEST).

In the AGM, Samantha Hill (Chair), will provide a summary of the events and activities the national executive committee members have been working on over the past year, and what we're working towards in the coming year.

We are always keen to hear from college members about their experiences as counselling psychologists, and what we can do to support your professional needs and development.

Further details for AGM will be shared soon in Psycommunity so please keep an eye on your updates!
