Part 2: the language we use IS important when supporting young people.

🟣 It can help how they express themselves.
🟣 Validate and explore what they are feeling.
🟣 Start to connect more with their body.

🟣 Therapy Spotlight🟣

When we lean into a child’s interests and strengths we create an environment they can engage, feel confident and learn new skills.

Making this part of your therapy sessions and when at home not only helps connection but makes activities meaningful.

🟡 Today is R U OK Day 🟡
At our MPOT, we know that children and teens need safe spaces to talk, share, and feel supported. Asking “Are you OK?” is a small step that can make a big difference and one we can all do to help out our own community.

Today is a reminder for all of us as parents, carers, friends, and peers to check in with the people in our lives.
💬 Start the conversation.
👂 Listen with care.
🤝 Remind them they are not alone.
Because every child deserves to feel heard, valued, and supported.

🟣 When we stay curious, we can open the door to understanding 🟣

It can be hard not to assume and jump to solutions but the reality is we often miss what the problem is.

Take the time to listen, validate what they are feeling and how they see their world. 👂

When we stay curious and work together we can find ideas that truly meet the child’s needs, work to their strengths and build their own problem solving. 🧠
